Just been clearing out some old stuff in the loft and came across a 20-page Doncaster Evening Post Souveneir Tribute newspaper to celebrate their promotion to Division 3 in 1969 - cost 5d.
It was the year 22,268 turned up for a midweek game against Darlington. We lost one-nil and 4 days later we played at home again, this time in front of 10,171. Fickle Rovers fans are nothing new, eh?
Afraid it's yellowing a bit but it's still a fine piece of history.
I also found a programme, Rovers versus Barnsley, Oct 9th 1976 (price 10p). That's pretty much in mint condition. The forward line reads Miller, Murray, O'Callaghan, Kitchen, Woodcock. I'd take that today - certainly 'worth a punt'!
Afraid that's where the treasure trove ended other than a bunch of newspaper cuttings about violence at Rovers matches circa 1969. They don't make good reading... Thankfully times have changed.
The stuff we throw away, eh?
