Anyone else have the misfortune to watch on ITV HD? 4 minutes odd in and coverage is interrupted by the beginning of one of them crap Hyundai ads, then flicks to an ITV HD screen and by the time they correct their f*ck up we're one-nil up and they're playing action replays!
Then, just before the Yanks scored the screen flicked and the main halfway camera footage reverted to non-HD and stayed that way until the end of the game.
Oh, then there's the ad break every two minutes before kick off, the add breaks at half time and the ad breaks at the end.
ITV should be banned from showing live sport.

I agree. Its such a shame BBC dont push for exclusive rights to show England games live.

Yep...cue mad panic to turn to CH103 only to see Gerrard celebrating

Shocking and couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, ITV have the next game aswell.
-
Agreed RTID75, it was a poor do.
We got HD in especially for the World Cup, and for the extra money you pay, you expect it to work. It cut out making us miss the England goal and then we ended up watching over half the game in non-HD!
Like others have said, the sooner the BBC get the rights back for the England games the better!!
-
To be honest, I didn't realise until the 89th minute that it was no longer in HD. Shows how much better it is.

Really?
I think HD makes the picture so much better. Perhaps it varies from tele to tele, but compared to non-HD, I think the HD picture is fantastic.
-
I think it definitely depends on the tele you have - we have quite a high end HD TV and the football on HD looks fantastic on it, whereas I know someone who has a low end one, and whilst there is an increase in quality on the HD, it's not as good as what you get on a high end one.
Don't forget that a HD box also upscales your normal broadcasts as well, so flicking between HD and non HD on a HD box produces a less noticeable difference than if you are watching the game on a standard Sky+ box - I hate watching the football on our Sky+ box now.
-
Yep, if you have a decent 1080p TV then the difference is clear. I could tell the difference straight away when HD disappeared from the halfway camera.
-
ITV is brilliant, trust me you don't know what you have got till it's gone! I would gladly pay 20 Quid a month subscription if it was available over here!
-
I've lately said ITV is now the televisual equivalent of The Sun - nothing but dumbed down crap for the idiot contingent these days. It has some occasional good stuff, but that's very a rare occurrence these days. There's nothing I regularly tune in for any more apart from Harry Hill.
I was hoping for better from their World Cup HD coverage. Let's hope some lessons are learnt!
-
Oops..... not even the Canadians/Americans switch to Ads when the games are on.....Ant & Dec should be offered as a sacrifice!
-
Couldn't resist sending this to viewerservices@itv.com
Hello,
ITV should be banned from hosting live sport...
Hitting the advert button during live play, missing the goal (not the first time that's happened either!), broadcasting most of the game in standard definition and the most pathetic of apologies ever written -you should be ashamed. Disgraceful, and it only serves to remind me why I don't watch ITV any more. Stick to your pathetic, dumbed down Simon Cowell 'talent' shows so I definitely won't feel the need to watch again.
Regards,
Wonder if I'll get a reply?

ITV`s iphone app had technical problems as well the t**ts!
-
Anybody that employs that Kitson Craig Burley doesnt deserve the steam off my piss.
Total knob.

That says everything about your opinions.
Harry Hill???? He has to be the biggest tosser on television sorry make that the planet.

Aye well but that would mean putting up taxes wouldn't it, in order to pay for it.
You know when you hear people wailing about how shit the public sector is and how the private sector always dies things better? Think \"BBC vs ITV\"

Its an LG 1080p TV. I notice more of a different when watching Blu Rays then when i'm watching in HD on Sky if i'm honest.

Couldn't have put it any better. ITV is an example of what happens when you leave the private sector to do whatever it wants. When you look back to the 70/80's ITV's drama, childrens TV and serious documentary output more than rivalled the BBC's. Spin on 30 years, add in Satellite, Cable and the Internet and you get the meaningless pap that ITV now churns out day after day under the pretence that it can't afford to do anything else.
For all the (sometimes justified) stick that Big Brother gets on Ch4, the broadcaster has always been pretty clear that this one show produces the profits that go to pay for the minority stuff that the channel would otherwise be unable to make. ITV has no such morales or policy with regards to the X Factor or Britians got talent.

Well, I think he's very funny. Some people like Rotherham United, I like Doncaster Rovers. Each to their own!
I don't watch anything else with anything approaching regularity on ITV though and TV Burp isn't on all year round!
-
All about opinions ....
I think Harry Hill is about as funny as Robert Green trying to save a Clint Dempsey scuff if you're an Englishman.
Blame the ball - it's too round, it's too light .....
Oh ... I've got a 37\" HD LG 1080p TV and HD is (imho) not significantly better.

All about opinions until you disagree with someone regarding DRFC on here!!
Oh and I have a 42\" 1080 with HD and all that does is make Harry Hill an ever bigger t**t.

There is no way on Earth that you (TWD) have HD. I mean before the £10/month you would need sky. I bet you watched it via a Pin Hole Camera or if in style, through Curry's shop window with 5 live to your ear. :P
-
What gets me about ITV is that they are so obsessed with this idea of dumbing everything down that even when they have a guaranteed 10 million audience for a football match, meaning that they don't HAVE to dumb down to their usual audience, they still DO. So you get that fat talentless gurning t**t Corden rammed down your throat, and those f**king inane Hyundai adverts that would appear funny to someone with an IQ of 40 on nitrous oxide
I f**king despise ITV with a vengeance.
-
Oh cmon Billy thats a bit harsh...
What about Loose Women, Jeremy Kyle, Corry, Emmerdale, This Morning, GMTV.
Okay okay i get your point:)
-
Just had the misfortune to watch five minutes of the James Cordon's World Cup Show....it's like the Daily Star on steriods.
Dizzee Rascal (why?) on the England preformance: \"We were right innit. Next game innit.\" Thanks Dizzee.
Next up, a story about Maradonna getting his todger out if the Argies win the World Cup. Then discussion about whether the players are allowed to have sex before a game.
Oh dear, oh dear.
-
Car crash TV, and not in a Ballard way either.
-
Im glad my other half refuses to pay any extra for HD TV. I never missed owt, must agree that i prefer football on BBC though!
