That would be the same player who couldn't hack it playing in Lg.2 this year then and was so slow in his reactions that he was the cause of Arsenal losing to Stoke in the FA Cup?

I agree with you to some extent, like you say couldn`t hack it in L2
But on the other hand he has a point, Cappello has taken Ferdinand who has struggled with injury for a good part of the season and King who we all know has dodgy knees and was highly likely to not last the distance

There are plenty of other centre halves in the country, I would have been tempted to take Jagielka for starters (as long as he isn't injured too, I rarely take any notice of the spoilt brat division!)

Another cracking player, I would prefer him to Ferdinand any day.
