I'm Andy Thompson, i've been using vikings for 4 years or so, never posted that much though. I'm 27 :-( and can be seen most matchdays at KMS doing bugger all, just poking around with a fork.

Irregular contributer to Pop Stand the wonderful fanzine, still only one pound! (enough advertising Nath?) The only Rovers supporter in the village, or at least I was until the playoff final when one of the old boys here became active after a gap of thirty years or more! Give it another five years I am sure I will be organising a minibus from Barmby Moor for matches, that would be a big thing from the little hamlet in E.Yorks. :-))

Deborah Playford, watcher from afar... and I just know I am the only Rovers supporter in the village..

Live in Norfolk on the coast.Mother, grandmother , and all round forum haunter..

Most likely to be found playing off topic, as I don't feel I have the knowledge or right to post too much on the clever side............yet...do read everything tho.

Just know I can't think of many things that match the buzz of actually going to watch Rovers play...well that you can do in a crowd anyway..

looking forward to hopefully getting to more home games next season.

love the fact there is a smiley I can make all my own..

Whereabouts in the Isle Of Axholme Mark?

I spent the first 26 years of my life in Epworth. There was always an intense Scunny/ Donny rivalry there, especially in my School Days at South Axholme Comprehensive. You were either a Scunny fan or a Donny fan. We always liked to think the Donny fans were the cooler kids, whilst the Scunny fans were simply forced into it by their Dads!

I've been a Rovers fan since 1969- so now approaching 40 years.

I live in Solihull, near Birmingham, as I have done since 1978.

Favourite other activities: history, cricket, sex and drinking- not necessarily in that order.

Favourite player of all time: Peter Kitchen was my boyhood hero. The best player I've seen in a Rovers shirt was Michael McIndoe. The man who gave me my finest Rovers memory was Sir Francis Tierney- closely followed by Sir James Hayter.

I'm from Scawthorpe, am 41 and have followed Rovers since 1972 when my dad first took me, and the old bugger still escorts me to games even now!  Along with my 8 year old daughter we're all S/T holders in the SE corner. Wasn't much to cheer in the early years apart from a brief spell under Billy Bremner when things got interesting and we had the talented Snodin brothers. Trust me here and now in the Championship is as good as it has ever been while I've followed DRFC.

I am Brian, 57 but not for much longer

Born in Swansea and moved to Donny when I was 5.

First game was in 1962 and was hooked.

After Uni went to live in Germany (Aachen) for a couple of years before moving to Holland some 32 years ago. I sometimes use the tagline 'Probably the only Plaid Cymru voting Donny fan living in Leidschendam'

Other interests Squash, Cricket, Real Tennis, Irish Dancing (youngest daughter), languages and numerical analyses - basically a real boring sod.

Favourite all time player - Laurie Sheffield

40 something professional Yorkshireman. Born in Conisbrough. Now live in Sheffield.

Foul-mouthed, ale-swilling, non-fool-suffering, egotistical, opinionated argumentative statto.

I have my less attractive side too but you can find that out for yourself.

First watched Donny in 1973. Going to school in Wath in the early 80s, surrounded by Barnsley and Rotherham fans when they were good and we were ba-baa just fixed the love of Donny deeper in my core. It's been a long wait, but it's been worth waiting for.

Favourite player: Alan Little. Because that was how football was supposed to be played before we all got sophisticated.

Favourite manager: Billy Bremner. O'Driscoll has achieved more, but Bremner did it with nothing. Did it twice and damn nearly did it three times.

Favourite match: Chester away in the Conference semis. If you were there, you know why.

Favourite goal: The Duggy bullet header that beat Rotherham in 1985.

Favourite Chairman: Bernie Boldry. I would have said JR but look what a knackers-job Transform did on me teeth.

Hi I'm Bruce or Smeg to my many friends.

I'm currently living in Oswestry training to be a radiographer. I used to have my own business supplying male escorts to discerning ladies in Berkshire. I sold the business to concentrate on my ambition of working in the NHS. I must be mad!

I have supported Rovers since 1982 having grew up in Blaxton. Have been recently divorced from Sally, (that wretched woman! :( ) I hope to get to more Rovers matches in the coming season.

My hobbies include Cribbage, Flight simulations and luxury travel.

As you can probably guess from my username, I like a drink of alcohol and can be found drinking round Bentley - usually The Bay Horse or in the Railway Tavern.

I am the user previously known as StevePSB, 34, Rovers supporter for as long as I can remember.

Born, like all the best people, in DRI, originally from Edlington (New ;) ) - my Dad ran the grocery shop in the block of four shops in Broomhouse Lane in the 70's and 80's. Exiled near Bedworth, Warwickshire (near Coventry for sake of argument), and as a season ticket holder I make the journey up the M69/M1/M18 for every home game. Due to the cost of following Rovers at home and work commitments I don't often get to away matches unfortunately.

Off work since December with serious health problems - at the moment I have no left knee joint (my previous metal joint was recently removed) just a metal 'spacer' in it's place. Awaiting the hospital putting me back together again, and I'm hoping and praying that I'll be fit in time for the new season - it's probably no better than 50/50 that I will at the moment though. :(

Post by: Jonathan on May 31, 2009, 09:32:04 pm
Jonathan, as the name suggests. Formerly known as Joncaster Rovers but thought it was high time I ditched the alias.

Born in Donacster, live in Doncaster, Doncaster Rovers is in my family and it's a way of life rather than just a hobby. My first game was probably about 20 years ago but I can't recall it exactly, other than to say I sat in the mainstand with my dad and we were playing in white at the time.

I've been lucky enough to live through the bad times and appreciate the good. I could never have dreamed that we'd achieve so much before I've even seen out my 20's.

I've seen some amazing times already in my young life, but my favourite ever Rovers moment has to be Tristram Whitman's late equaliser in the Conference play off semi final first leg against Chester. That goal was massive and I don't think I've ever celebrated a goal or seen scenes quite like it. Those are the moments you follow football for, there have been many more like it but that one stands out above all others.

Been reading and contributing to the message boards (mainly the VSC and YAURS) since I bought my first PC in 2000 and find it a great place to discuss all things Rovers with similarly obsessed people.

Your friendly neighbourhood Leeds fan here, but one of the friendly type.

Born and bred in Donny, left UK when I was 18 and have lived in Germany ever since. Still have a soft spot for Donny and try to get to games when back home.

Am now in my forties and a teacher at a German comprehensive school.

Enjoy good footballing banter, but object to abusing people only because they support a different team.

Gold Coast Viking here from Sunny Australia. I have posted previously on rare occasions and also posted on Yaurs before it lost the plot.
Born and raised in Donny and lived on Sandringham Road at Intake before British Ropes sent Dad down under to set up a plant near Sydney.
That was in 69 the year we won the old Div 4 and I was 12 years old.

Love the new format and will attempt to express my opinion a bit more this time around.

I have a lot of time for a number of the posters on here who I have got to know over the years and hope to hear from BobG, Brian Grainger, Bradford Exile and the like as well as the rest of you.

Anyone planning a holiday down under drop me a line.

Cheers

Don't believe everything Jonathan says about his \"young life\", he's a couple of months older than me and I'm certainly not young anymore! I am absolutely loving the massive progress this club has made over the last ten years and I'm as proud as I've ever been to say I support Doncaster Rovers.

I was a bit of a latecomer to the Rovers, not getting to my first match until I was 12. A dreary nil-nil draw at home to Shrewsbury was enough to get me hooked for life!

Well, looks like I'm a late comer to this site?

BLIR - Big Lad in Rosso, whatever (or Neil sometimes)

Fairly frequent poster on the old site (irrelevant b*llocks mainly), as I was on Yaurs.

As soon as I get my head round the new format (and it stops being so nice outside) I'll be back into the swing of it - although off to the TT in the Isle of Man on Wednesday so won't be posting much for a while!

Originally a scouser (born in same hospital as Steven Gerrard, Peter Reid and he fat lezza out of the spice girls) have been in Donny since '95 and have been following the Rovers (as a ST holder for the last 7 years) since around then.

Spotted that most of the posters from the old site have made the transition to here, good to see you all and the new faces too!

:) Hi....I'm Ray

Born in Thurnscoe 21 Jan 1944

Lived in Bradford for the last 42 years.

Followed Rovers since 1964/65. First match was agains Brighton I think, remember we were 2-0 down after 1st half but came out 2nd half and got a 2-2 draw.

Favourite player King Alec without a doubt although I wish I had seen him before his two broken legs, I bet he was a titan.

Other sports, Crown Green Bowls although haven't played in a league for many years, likewise Table Tennis. Played in a team that won div 11, div 8, div 6 in succesive years in the Bradford league and were mid table div 4 when the club folded due to lack of playing facilities.

Currently send reports to many Rovers fans all over the world, and am willing to send to anyone else who so wishes.

This has to be the best time in 50 years to be a Rovers fan.

Best game: Reading at home we won 7-5 and my Daughter was mascot of the day. What a fabulous day that was.

Hi everyone, my name's Kyle, lived in Donny all my life, moved from Woodlands to Scawsby when I was 12, still their now at 22 :)

Used to go to a few games with my dad at Belle Vue when I was really young, but stopped going when I stopped enjoying it to be brutal. Was also a Newcastle fan as a youngster.

Started going again when the Keepmoat was opened and thoroughly enjoy it now that we have some decent facilities, it might not be terraced and all the rest of it to please you die hards, but I like the fact I don't have to p*ss in a porta-loo! :D

Managed to get to 20 of the 23 home games last season, and 5 away games I think, I was fortunate that I didn't have to book many off work, but I've recently changed jobs and don't think I'm going to be able to get to as many this season, shame :(

My dad still has the programme from my first Rovers game, against Hull  on the 8th of March 1997, apparently it was a crap game. lol.

Hi Dearnerover

I was born in Saxon Street (no28) but moved down to Houghton Road when I was about 6. Moved back to Windsor Street when I was 11.

Remember well if you lived at \"top end\" you supported Donny.

If you were unlucky enough to live at \"bottom end\" you supported another set of so & so's.

Born on Deightonby but lived on King's street then moved to Garden Street when I was 11. I've lived in Nottingham and Derby since but have moved back home.
At school if I remember correctly there were only 3 Rovers fans, most were Owls and Dingles.

All the Best,

Martyn

My first post.
Started watching Rovers early 1960's' not sure which game, Colin Booth and Alfie Hale era. I missed a lot of seasons due to lack of money/working Saturdays.
Born in Pontefract, everybody supported Leeds, but my Mam was born in Edlington and my Granny and other relatives lived there so I went to watch Donny and wwas hooked.
Like everyone else I have had stick from the Leeds supporters for many years so the last few seasons have been very sweet.

I'm Andy, 21, student at Sheffield University studying a fun accounting degree.

Well travelled lived in Portsmouth as a baby but mainly Scawsby then Edenthorpe.  Also lived in Helensburgh near Glasgow where quite a few footballers of Rangers lived at the time.

Interestingly the day I was born was the day all the world stock markets crashed in 1987 and just a few days after the great storm aswell.

Moving out to Florida in a couple of weeks to work for a mouse for the summer.  Least good weather is guaranteed :)

I spent a year in Helensburgh myself when i was assigned to a submarine due to an admin error. John Logie Baird was also from Helensburgh, which is ironic because it had the worst fcuking tv signal of any area i have ever lived!

Also, outside the nuclear sub base, there is a protest group called 'plantshare 2000' which regularly demostrates and climbs onto the subs and spraypaints them. It is run by the little girl out of 'chitty, chitty, bang, bang'.

Wayne T, mid 30s. Originally from Rosso, now living in Finningley. Work over in Manchester so my Rovers mini-kit etc can often be seen along the M62 passing Leeds!

Supported Rovers since the early 1980s although those who know me will tell you that I also have a soft spot for Arsenal. Favourite Rovers player of all time was Johnny Muir.

Ex Pop Side at BV, now Season Ticket holder in the South Stand and attend most of the away games.  Currently aiming to visit all 92 league grounds, 27 left at the last count.

Apparently, I laugh like Mutley off of Wacky Races, hence the username.
Viewed the VSC site regularly for the last couple of years and posted occasionally as \"Wayno\".

Yep, remember the old peace camp outside the base.  Spent two years up there when was Dad was based there.  It was his last post of his 22 years.  The town itself is too rough though and the locals certainly aren't the friendliest.  The schoolkids had a very anti English campaign which caused us no end of problems.

Supported the rovers for about 6/7 years now, before then I despised football and did everything I could to avoid watching, hearing or reading about it. My friends, who are wednesday, United and Rotherham fans kept on telling me Rovers scores as 'at least one of us had to support them' they did eventually stop telling me and I found myself looking for the scores myself, eventually buying a ticket and going...and i've been hooked ever since!

Hi Folks

My name is Martin 40 somthing from Tickhill. Been a season ticket holder for 6 or 7 years but supported the boys for well over 30.
Used to tell people that I followed Rovers through thin and thinner - you old boys(and girls - better be politicaly correct!) will understand that. But of lately I fortunatley haven't used that line.
Used to abuse the away manager in main stand at good old Belle Vue but now I'm older and wiser, I sit in the West Stand Morgue
I have watched this forum on the old site for years but thought it was time to contribute so I will dip in and out from time to time when I have something valid to say.
I must say well done to all the guys who have set this new site - Keep up the excellent work

Right, having read all the posts on this subject, I reckon I can claim to have one of the longest associations with the Rovers.

My Dad took me to see the Rovers at home to Leeds United. We lost 1-0 that day in the 1956/7 season. I was hooked from that day onwards.

Missed a fair few games due to serving away in the forces but always looked out for the results, and scanned any newspapers that I could get hold of to try and find any smippets of Rovers news.

Even though I'm an exile now down in deepest darkest Essex, I still support the Rovers, going to home and away games whenever I can afford it.

Best game? Seeing us beat Leeds United at Wembley of course, long time coming but oh what a sweet day!!!!!!!

I am 58 years old this year

We could always meet up for a pint and a Rovers natter if you feel like it. I've a fair bit of Rovers memorabilia scattered about as well. However I have in the past been on occasions been a 'fairweather supporter' but over the last 7/8 years have rekindled my love for all things Rovers related and have met a good few friends through this forum (especially those who have helped me to overcome my technophobia!
I have a lovely partner and a daughter of 10 who have been indoctrinated in all things 'Rovers'.
Favourite posters include B.S.T.,Rob, Jucyberry, sif, bobg and Dutch Uncle for very different reasons. I welcome all the new posters to this board and hope to learn a few things from you as well.
Thanks to all those , who spent so much of their time in setting up this forum.
RTID.

Bloody hell Hoola, Kneller Hall spent a year there studying about 1977/8 had an absolute whale of a time round Twickenham and Richmond showed them southern lasses a thing or two :cheer:

Known on the forum as Simon Lindsay, 30 Years young. Born in Royal Gwent and lived in Pontnewydd for 3 years. Used to watch Rovers from being 11, with Ranks, Brevett, Ashurst, Jones, Muir & Noteman etc. Best game ever....Paul Malcolm's testimonial as i managed to get Gazza's boots he wore.
I am A Cardiff fan but i do go to More Rovers games due to the distance, enjoy the banter of the away games and also on here.
The VSC forum can take away many hours of your life without realising it....but it's all good.

Dutch Uncle,

I am moving to St.John's, Newfoundland.....Leaving the forces after 12 years.  Going to work as a \"Realtor\" if you know anyone that needs help moving pm me if you like. I am sure I can help any friends of Rovers fans and all forces and ex-forces, even if it's just for a bit of advice.

Haven't been to Newfoundland (have seen great pictures) but everywhere I have been in Canada has been great - a wonderful country and very welcoming for us Brits. I am sure you have made a great choice - just those time differences when listening to Rovers matches!

Enjoy!

Alistair, age 39.  Visited Belle Vue on and off from 1976, became an avid fan after about '86.  Set up the VSC back in 2000 to re-build trust between the fans and the board and finally became a season ticket holder last season when my 7 year old lad asked for one and the wife relented.

I had my heart broken by Donny in two ways -
one by that Golden Goal,  and secondly by the Donny fan who snogged me after the game to console me.

My heart has mended and I have keep a good eye on your results, B) cheering when you win,  :cheer:

Fond memories of Conference Guide, Hoagy, Andrew Page (is he still around) and your good self

LOL  Ant Page...  I think he has resigned himself to the conference south board along with Woking.  Hoagy is still around... You guys are missed on the forum. Every now and then there will be a quip that 'it isn't funny now the Donny fans have left'
http://www.conferenceforum.co.uk/cboard.mpl  is where you'll find it.  Plus Bifmag is back too.

Yes, shame about the playoffs but I don't think my nerves could have taken it.  That day at the Brittania Stadium I realised why so many football managers have heart attacks - my body was fit to explode with all the stress.  Hopefully this season we will get promotion to League One properly by winning all our games 6-0. ;o)

Alan Roberts,
34 years old, former (good quality) long distance runner and (steady, unspectacular but solid, reliable) goalkeeper. Have been a teacher for 11 years and am currently an Assistant Head Teacher at a local Junior School. Been going to Rovers since I was 8, spent the third division championship season in Australia so mised it all! Bugger, but bizarrely don't regret that, something strangely satisfying about basking in glory on t'other side o't'world in fantastic weather. I'm  currently living in Cusworth with my good lady and her kids and hold the prestigious position of Vice Chairman at Doncaster Little Theatre!

I'm another Allan (no relation to Al4475)

Been going for far too many of my 34 years.  Now living in Manchester.
My solitary claim to Rovers fame is that I was the editor of Keegan Was Crap Really.

By some strange coincidence we've got a Daggers fan at our Oldham branch.  He's twice my size and he recently told me he was going to lamp me the first time he saw me in my Rovers jacket!  Top lad.

Hi all.  Currently live in Chesterfield, and work in Sheffield but attend all the Rovers home games sitting in the west stand.  I was brought up in Donny and went to Park Primary School, Wheatley Hills High School, and then managed to escape there at 13 to go to Danum Grammar.

My first game at Belle Vue was in 1966 and used to stand under the old cowshed or sometimes live it up by going in the wooden stand behind the goal at the town end.  How we never got burnt to death I will never know with the amount of people who used to smoke in it, oh how times have changed.

Over the past 40 years seen so many good, and bad (plenty of bad) come and go.  We all crave for a quick forward but I remember Peter Kitchen, fast he was not, but my goodness he knew where the net was.

Lets all enjoy the good times that we now see and lets put our faith in the management team who have delivered success to this club beyond anything we have seen before.

Looking forward to a great season

Rovers till I die

Well done John Ryan.

Hi, I'm Mary. Been watching Rovers since 10th April 2004 when we beat Bristol Rovers 2-1. Had hated footie with a passion until then, that being the first \"live\" match I'd ever seen, (and only saw that match because was on way to Plymouth to see my son and we stayed over in Bristol for hubby and grandson to see the match). Now totally hooked on Rovers and will also watch telly footie too, always hoping Manure will lose! Get to most home games and have managed nearby away games due to work hours but now have Saturday's off so can get to more away games. Grandson been mascot twice at away games. Favorite player is Copps. Best game.... Wembley of course!:woohoo:

Hi, I'm Tom, aged 59 and a fan since 1963. Balby boy, Plant Works apprentice fitter, NCB fitter, minor NUM official, labourer, debt collector, taxi driver, writer, historian, university lecturer, museum director, and a 21-year exile. Left Donny in 1988, and have lived in New England since. When I first left, I listened to the football results on BBC World Service on short wave, and my mates mailed me the Green 'Un -- and now, it's a media extravaganza, and it's so easy to follow the club I love from afar.

Belle Vue will always be in my heart, and probably explains why I dislike the Keepmoat Stadium so much. It has no character, nor atmosphere, and is very uncomfortable.

I get back once a year, and plan visits around the fixture list. Although a Third and Fourth Division club for all the time I supported them when in England, we had many special players like Laurie Sheffield, Chris Rabjohn, Terry Curran, Alan Little, and Tommy Gaynor. However, the most technically gifted player I've ever seen is James Coppinger. I'm so proud of my club! They are back where they belong.

Hi Alonzo/Tom and good to see you again - I was just beginning to worry you weren't joining us - need all the oldtimers we can get and since you are at least 12 months older than me you qualify

I also followed Rovers on World Service short wave for many years - I would mysteriously disappear at 17:59 on a Saturday (1 hour time difference) and reappear 20 minutes later!  I also had The 'Green un' sent on - in fact my father kept on sending it long after 'tinterweb arrived.

Did you have any connection with Alonzo Drake or did you just like the name?

Cheers

Hi I'm Andrew. I'm almost 44 you know. I'm a self-employed decorator born & bred in Harrogate, no connections with Donny at all. My Grandad was a mad fan, and he introduced me to Rovers in April 1972. He died in 1976 and I vowed to give my heart to Donny, plus I had  a hero in Peter Kitchen. I had a season ticket for Sammy Chungs 2 seasons, but having kids put paid to that. Ben, my youngest was introduced to Belle Vue on a windy day in April 2004 when we played Darlo, in our title season. He was hooked straight away. this season will be our 5th as ST holders (West Stand opposite penalty spot).

Only posted now and then on the old forum, usually Harrogate related, but nose around most days.

Hi, I am Richard, born in Doncaster in 1959, went to school with the 'legend' that is Jeremy Clarkson, he was my best friend, and I was on This is Your Life with him in 1998.

Brought up during the Colin Clish, Stan Brookes, Mike Elwiss, Terry Curran era, worshipped Big Bren and Peter Kitchen. Most memorable game - . Went to Anfield, 2-2 draw with Liverpool, could not attend replay as at school, 2pm kick-off midweek!

Moved to Peterborough and attend more away games than home, with my daughter, who is 14. 'Over the moon' with how we have performed and the style of our play. I love all our players and I am spreading the Gospel that is DRFC. Enjoyed Millenium Stadium and Wembley.

I am already looking forward to Watford away and my daughter wants to go to Middlesborough away on her birthday, so I suppose I will have to take her. (what a shame!!!)

I live and breathe DRFC, if we lose I am quiet and sad, if we win I am happy and bouncey. Thanks to John Ryan I am often the latter, he is a true hero.

Hello,
I am joe from Newtown in County Wicklow ,Ireland.
Been involved with amatuer football for over x years.
52 years old today. Coached Newtown Juliors/Albion for
9 years.Went from Wicklow league,to South Dublin,to the
DDSL,Dublin and District Schoolboys League. The largest
schoolboy league in Europe.Reached the Premier league at
Under 16 and survived, just about in a relegation playoff.
It was a fabulous journey for all concerned, seeing the boys
grow up and mature into not only into good footballers but good
men.We had to part company with a few along the way but they are still friends of
mine and of their former team mates and thats what matters.
Lost a colleague and former manager when he fell to his
death when working on a roof. His name was Phelim Lynch
and he loved the team as much as anyone. It was a sad and
sudden loss.Life goes on and we are all doing our own things
now, but we all shared in a great journey, and it is still
going on. Doncaster Rovers has someone who is special to
us playing for them.We delight in his achievements and Doncater Rovers triumps.
Long live the Dream.  Regards Joe. :P

Could you have a word with Jeremy and tell him to stop being such a prat? When it suits he seems quite proud of his Donny roots but he is just as likely to have a dig and what has he got against the Rovers and while we're at it what is all this Chelsea nonsense?

James Edward Hayter.

 Bournemouth
After progressing through the youth system with south coast club Bournemouth, i made my official début for them in the 1996–97 season in a 3–1 Division Two defeat to Peterborough United. Despite a promising start, i failed to gain a first team place and moved to Salisbury City on loan.

My performances there earned me a recall to Bournemouth from manager Mel Machin, and in October 2000 i equaled the club record for the number of goals scored in a match when i scored 4 against Bury.I was soon established as one of the most consistent and sought-after strikers outside the Premier League, and the proudest moment of my Bournemouth career came in May 2003 when i helped them achieve victory over Lincoln City in the Division Three playoff final.

On 24 February 2004, i came on as an 84th minute substitute while Bournemouth were 3–0 up at home to Wrexham and scored the fastest Football League hat-trick ever in less than 140 seconds, beating the record set by Jimmy Scarth of Gillingham in 1952. My parents were at the match but missed my hat-trick as they had to leave early to get the last ferry back to the Isle of Wight.

I finished as Bournemouth's top scorer for the 2005–06 season, with 22 goals to my name, which proved vital in saving them from relegation. While struggling to score for Bournemouth in the 2006–07 season, i was a vital part of their first-team and scored twice against Oldham Athletic (3–2 win), the winner at Chesterfield (1–0) and one in the 5–0 win against Leyton Orient.

 Doncaster Rovers
On 30 May 2007, I signed for Doncaster Rovers for a club record transfer fee of £200,000. I was Sean O'Driscoll's first signing as Doncaster boss.[1]

I powered Doncaster Rovers into the Championship, on 25 May 2008, with a 47th minute stooping header that proved the only goal in the 2008 League One play-off final, against Leeds United.[2]

After Rovers' promotion to the Championship, i struggled to find the net at the start of the 2008/9 season, but Rovers continued to show faith in me, until an injury kept me out until March 2009. I started to find form on my return to the side, scoring my first goal of the season in narrow 2-1 defeat to Watford on April 4th 2009. I then scored another 3 goals in the 2008/9 season against Ipswich Town, Plymouth Argyle and Crystal Palace, taking my goal tally for the season to 4.

So now you know all about me.

Oh lord. Please save me from this misery.

Hi!
Adam Sellens, 19 years of age and im a exile currently living in Sutton-in-Ashfield. Next year ill be going to Notts Trent Uni (hence the username) so will be flying the rover flag around Nottingham, hopefully with full bragging rights again   . Season ticket holder in the southwest corner and get to as many away games as I can. I used to post a bit on the old site and played (albeit quite badly) in a few of the fans games in the league 1 season so a few people might know me from there.

Names Kev ,Stud to my mates i hear voices and sometimes get kicked off foruums for saying inappropriate stuff about politics ,sex and that. But the rovers keep me sane in my twilight years until my numbers come up and i can buy  out rovers and declare a socialist republic of south yorkshire with conisbrough as its capital. At 50, i have just been through my male menapause and started watching rovers again after a 20 year break.Best player Peter Kitchen .Best manger Stan Anderson .Went to school in Wath eclipsed by dingles which is why i started watching rovers.Stopped going because i had to pay in as i couldnt get over fence anymore so it was a choice between footy and beer. Not muched changed as Leeds are still poaching our fans .What has changed is the atmosphere and culture as you can now go to a footy match without getting your head kicked in for living on the wrong side of town.Mainly by youth from Rosso mob handed who used to hang out in the local bus station waiting for there  victims.I ask you how can you build an international force for change when folk within a geagraphical location of 5 mile cant get on .Bet Trosky wasnt from Rosso .Ah those were the days Sorry got to go missing coronation street.

Hello to all, Im James Perkins and I'm 20. Rovers fan since the year before we got promoted from the confrence. I've been a season ticket holder since that start of the Division 3 title winning season, and really have only enjoyed the high life of promotions and JPT final, there has been the odd awful games but nothing compared to the downfalls of previous generations. Love watching the rovers, wish the attendances would be bigger, with a better atmosphere but apart from that, happy with the way the club is run. I would like to go more away games, but can afford so many a season, unfortunately other things take priority. Looking foreward to another season in the Championship next year!

I’d like to make contact with your forum on behalf of Reading’s “Royals Rendezvous” forum, for which I’m a moderator (please don’t lynch me!). We already have good relations with FuzzyDuck, who’s helped us on our matches together with a lot of good info on our site. We come ‘in peace’, you’re guaranteed nothing of wind-ups, and already have excellent relations with teams from the majority of Championship clubs, and from clubs in other leagues. We invite fans from other clubs to participate in our “Rivals, but Friends” section of the site as guests, but before saying more I’d like to just sound you out that there’s no problem in giving a couple of links … usually the answer has been positive, but we have had just a couple of unfortunate moments on two sites where we’ve been considered Spam!

David,

We are more than happy to welcome opposition supporters onto our site for friendly (and sometimes \"slightly barbed\") banter.  We take people as we find them, for example, Leeds fans are pure evil! ;-)

Feel free to provide a link to your site, and we will add it to our links section too.

Just to add re Royals......there are a few Berks based Rovers fans on the VSC forum too.....including yours truly ( VSC Chairman) and my good mate Steve ( VSC Treasurer )....so makes for some good local banter!
Look forward to your 'input'....
Can we come up to donny on your supporters bus :)
Title: Re: Introduce Yourself
Post by: daib0 on January 20, 2012, 01:27:29 pm
Many thanks, and don’t worry a bit about our fans; we get comments that they’re almost too tame! Agreed that Leeds fans won’t feel happy until they regain the big time, but in my personal opinion the LUFC Talk seems by far the best of their forums…

So, to Royals Rendezvous, and our site is here: http://www.royalsrendezvous.co.uk   The initial core group of 50 came from the old BBC 606 service in 2010 some 6 months before the closure was announced. We’re over five times that a year later and fast growing.
We do invite banter/chat back - you are all presently able to contribute to post in our open section “Rivals, but Friends”, http://royalsrendezvous.co.uk/forum/3832070 and even start article topics as a guest (language decency though please). Viking Chat has just been added to our ‘Forums’ section there as well. Also to say that all our large Match Threads are produced with detailed information produced equally for both sets of fans, and thanks again to FuzzyDuck for great banter already.
For Gartom, maybe you might have a quick browse at the RR Guide for Away fans, and any suggestions to improve it gratefully received!
I hope that I may contribute occasionally on here with sensible comments, including of course for our forthcoming game, and with fullest respect shown to you guys.

20 years young! Proud dad to a 6 week old little boy, originally from Balby as my username suggests but moved out this year to Dunscroft/Hatfield. Much prefer it.
