........... how about taking a look at Martyn Waghorn?! In our price range I believe, meaning wages!!
Taken from Sky Sports Tranfer Centre:
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has admitted he could let striker Martyn Waghorn go out on loan again, but will not sell the youngster.

What about luke varney. His a bit like andy keogh and he's got a good finish to him. Would be cheap or if we can't buy him loan him. Derby doesn't want him.
-
I wasn't really a fan of Varney, however Waghorn looked good for Leicester last season. It is rumoured that Waghorn really wants to stay at Sunderland and fight for his right to play in the Premiership.
It will all come clear soon, I suppose.
-
I also think varney is less than impressive, wouldnt select him in the current first 11 to be fair

I've always liked Luke Varney when I have watched him play.He is an intelligent player and I would think he would be even better under SOD'S tuition but It's testament to our progress that I think we are looking at players younger and possibly better now.Co-incidentally he started at Quorn FC before Crewe snapped him up at the age of 20.Good players can be found in the lower leagues.

:) i like varney, to be fair i'm 100% Donny but when visiting friends and family in Crewe i do like to watch the odd game! I say Varney, he doesnt score much but creates

He creates you mean he throws a tantrum?

Great player for Leicester last season.

Agree that Waghorn looked good last year.
Another one that i've not seen mentioned this year although he has in the past is Vokes, if Keough's on the edge of the squad at Wolves surely he's even further away from their first 11 and would be a decent foil for Billy? Thoughts?
-
Rated him from his time at Bournemouth and his appearances for Wales. Looked the part when he played for Wolves in last seasons friendly.
SOD enquired about a loan last season but he ended up at Leeds and didn't impress by all accounts. Different kind of player to Keogh so not quite sure, as with Brooker, how he would do alongside Billy.
-
I know he didnt pull too many trees up at Leeds but nor did Billy at t'Lane. If we cant get Keogh he's surely worth a punt, although i know who i'd take first!
