Title: Holiday tunes
Post by: RobTheRover on July 23, 2010, 01:15:13 pm
Now that the schools have broken up, many of us will soon be dipping our toes into the mediterranean and frying to a crisp.  So, what tunes are you taking to pass the time and can recommend to others?

I'm really into Frank Turner at the moment, after his support act with Green Day last month.  Turner is a very clever songwriter, doesnt follow the old verse-chorus-verse-bridge-chorus formula of many other artists, and comes across as a punk-folk singer.  Imagine a middle-class Billy Bragg sings Carter USM, and you arent too far away.  His \"Love, ire and song\" album is just superb.

And you can have a bit of him, then mix in a bit of NIN and Scraping Foetus off the Wheel and it all works well together!

I'm currently getting by on a mix of TV On the Radio, The Thermals and Refused.

I doubt these will be on the Radio One roadshow with Smiley Miley though.

This holiday I was mostly listening to Muse, Mumford + Sons, Jamie T, Elbow and Bombay Bicycle Club.

You could take in the local Spanish Island beach sounds........A meloni, a meloni, anana, anana and a cocoooooooo.

Agree with all of cussys suggestions. Particularly mumford and Bombay. Some real relaxing summer tunes!
