any one no of any good cheap car insurance companys for young drivers?
thanks in advance

Best bet I've found is to search on Confused.com and that sort of site in general. Insurance terms and prices change all the time so recommending one insurer is not likely to get you the best deal. Strick your details into those sites (and don't stick to just one such site!) and see what comes up.

By far the best deal (£1000 cheaper than the nearest competitor) I got on a powerful motor whilst in my early 20s was on www.elephant.co.uk
Of course that may have changed in the years since but they are worth a look.

Don't go to these brokers as they add a handling/comission fee on, go direct to Aviva, they were over £100 cheaper than the same policy through a broker

Very good point, Spankster. The brokers are useful for doing the donkey work, finding the best quote from their array of suppliers. Then you can go direct to the provider and save yourself the comission.

I found if your a new customer to churchill they are good to go with (just the re-newal is a bit naf).. myself and my mates were with them last year when i was 19. it was the cheapest quote by far ... but go to them direct not through these compare websites ... we don't want to be funding annoying advertising campaigns where we have large blokes dancing around singing .. Go Compare, Go Compare.

When I passed in 2001 the cheapest company was Co-operative Insurances (CIS). But it changes every year depending on economic conditions, company targets, the amount of new customers they have got already this quarter etc. Best bet, as mentioned above, is to try out all the comparison websites, then maybe ring the cheapest company directly and ask if they can beat the quote you got on whichever comparison website.
