Title: Iain Hume - Suspended or Not?
Post by: 1879Rovers on December 27, 2012, 07:24:37 am
How will this work?

He can't play against his parent club on Saturday and he also picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at Oldham.

Can he serve a suspension at the same time or will he miss the Sheff Utd game?

Hoping the suspension can also count against Preston.

Good question I'd hope the fact he's not allowed to play against Preston is down to a gentlemans agreement and we could use this to our advantage. We will have to wait and see

The suspension/bookings issue will be a FA/FL matter.  Whether Hume is allowed to play against Preston is a matter between the clubs, therefore this would be the ideal match to serve a suspension.  However, on another thread, someone said Hume only has 4 yellow cards to date?

I now see on the BBC website that Hume apparently has the 5 yellows.  Perfect timing!

I refer my Rt. Hon. Friends to the answer I gave in another place.

Point of information - the card Hume picked up today was his 4th yellow of the season, not his 5th. So he would not be banned for the Preston game. I think the confusion stems from the fact that in the Oldham home game he was dismissed for two yellows. In such cases, the first yellow is wiped out.

Leading yellow cards after today's game as follows:

Keegan   8
Jones   6
Cotterill    5
Quinn   4
Hume   4
Brown   3
Syers   3
Bennett   3

So only Quinn is in danger of a ban for five yellows should he pick up on on Saturday. However, if any accumulate 10 before some time in April they will cop a two game ban.

Thanks for the answer TRB.

Spankster - The yellow cards don't get wiped but you can no longer pick up a suspension for five yellow cards. If you receive ten yellow cards before the first week in April, you will serve a two match suspension.

Now that would be a bonus

Given that the Hume signing is merely a loan extension, I would expect he will not be allowed to plat against Preston

You're right- he can't play at Preston tomorrow. At least he'll be nice and fresh for the Blunts.

Even the Football League website have Hume down as 5 yellow cards.

The FA are in charge of suspensions, their listing on their website indicates no suspension for Hume so he must have 4 yellows (the two in one game counts as 1 yellow).

most media websites, and the football league website, get their stats from the PA, which have already been proven to be inaccurate this season.  (http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=235128.msg277596#msg277596)

incidentally, Stuckmann is still down as not having received a yellow this season on most websites
