Do you have a link? I read an article recently and I'm sure it said that NI wouldn't name their squad til next week.

Not quite. He's been named in a squad for a friendly against Belarus on 27th May. The final squad will be named the following day.

Just hope he gets a chance to play unlike last time.

You're right TRB - just read the article and he's in a 28 man squad for the game. I would have thought that their certain starters (such as Steve Davis) would probably be rested so hopefully he will get the chance to impress.

Unused sub. Doesn't appear to be in the managers plans. Real shame for Luke but he just happens to be behind the most talented group of players Northern Ireland have ever had. They will shock a few in France, solid at the back and multiple attacking options.

Reading the BBC report it hints that the 22 in the squad tonight would go to France.  That includes Luke.

If that's the case I be he'll be gutted that he'll miss out on a place in the Wales team then?!

He would be unlucky not to go, he has been involved with the squad for quite a while. I don't think they have big options defensively, i think he will make it.

I was talking about actually playing, not the squad.

He's a back up, unlikely unless injury gives him his chance, or the manager wants him to do a certain job. It's nice that we are represented, i hope he does get to play.

One for the stattos.... Who was the last Rovers player to represent his country in a Euro championship, if anyone?

I don't believe a current Rovers player has ever appeared at a World Cup or European Championship Finals tournament.

Len Graham was included in the squad for Northern Ireland in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden as a non-travelling reserve.

I knew I could rely on you or Dutch Uncle for the answer. I know six months after leaving us, Harry Gregg was in the Northern Ireland squad in 58 and he was named as one of the players of the tournament.

You could name a cabbage leaf in the NI squad and it would be in with a shout of playing. McCullough's tried his hand at centre half...............too short, too many mistakes and lacks any real pace. He's also had a go at midfield and I haven't even noticed him playing. That given the fact that as a centre half he actually could play a bit of football out from the back. Sadly, he's a nearly player.........nearly this and nearly that but not quite.

Good god, and I thought England had problems defensively!!

In all seriousness, best of luck Luke

You can't have seen NI play lately, or Luke for that matter.

He has huge potential in that midfield role, I see it as his long term position and I suspect Fergie does as well

In the midfield role he's been playing recently it could be argued that if you don't notice him he's doing a good job.

Luke projected on a cave wall. Roy and the FA should spice up our squad announcements like this.

Northern Ireland are my other team, so I'd be supporting them anyway. Not sure which way I'd go if they met England in knock out stage.

Probably touch and go whether he is with us next season if he gets some decent game time during tournament. Few sub appearances and agent will be turning his head.
