Goals, graft, link up play, attitude, wind up merchant.
What a f**king signing.
-
Best player on the pitch 2nite by a long way!!
-
Can we keep him though?
-
Did I hear right and they gave Motm at the ground to Tommy Rowe?
-
That is correct but it could have also gone to either Baudry or Marquis.
-

I wouldn't worry too much about losing him yet. He's finally getting settled at a club where he will play rather than be shipped out on loan so I dare say he's as happy with DRFC as we are with him.
-
I think he only signed for 2 years. Time to extend that.
-
Thankfully, he was back to his normal self after a few games in the doldrums. We need him to lead that line and, you can see defenders physically shitting themselves when he's paired up with Williams.
-
Fergie had them chomping at the bit tonight. We came out of the blocks like a train. We've been slow starters in games for far too long in recent seasons, so I'm really pleased this has been addressed.
-
Big John man of the match by miles. Marosi second.
-
Said he's settled up here and loving it in his Sky post-match interview.
-
Marquis was man of the match by a long way. He ruled their backline a bit like Chris Brown could at times but Marquis scores goals as well. He would be hated if he was in the opposition by us.
He is a real irritant that you should be able to buy a spray to get rid of. A spray with Deet in it wouldn't stop this fella. You might as well spray Mr Muscle on him for all the effect it would have!
-
shame he couldn't score a hat-trick at the "Marquis Stadium" as I call the keepmoat
ffs will Grimsby please sell Omar bogar
-
I wonder how much of John Marquis's form is down to Fergie?
He's maybe making him feel settled and secure, building confidence.
Maybe John has also realised that he needed to make a mark after being a bit part player with other clubs for so long. It was certainly a tremendous performance last night. Their defence looked frightened to death of him.
-
has a swagger about him, the opposition must hate
-
All his 13 goals for us are in the league. 25 games (was his suspension for bookings in a league game?) and 13 goals is a fantastic return...
-
Remember when he wouldn't get more than 5? good times.
-
I was gutted for him with the width of the post costing him a hat-trick last night. He just edged my MoM vote over Baudry due to his link-up/holding up play just as much as his goals.
Something has clicked for him. Whether it's the regular starting berth, our system or the players around him I'm not sure but he's been a hell of a player so far.
I thought he might be ready for a rest but I was eating my words last night.
-
I would have dropped Marquis last night, and I'd have taken Copps off before he made the second goal!
Shows what I know!

Me too BB.😄

Said Marquis was MOTM straight after the game on Sky, the reporter spoke to him and Copps.
Bloody love Marquis' goal celebrations, they're class.
-
The team spirit is there for everybody to see as well.

I was hoping he would get a hat trick as well Mike... but you can't say that the chance that hit the crossbar cost him his hat trick as it happened before he scored his second goal... which of course wouldn't have happened if the crossbar chance had gone in!
-
Just as an aside to last night, on Monday just after we scored Marquis was holding the ball on the touchline much to the annoyance of their left back when a voice from the West stand shouted jokingly, SHOOT, the smirk on Johns face had to be seen particulary as he the won the throw and wasted another few seconds winding their full back even more! More of the same please JM for the rest of the season
-
I love stories like that, Raven. There were loads of great moments like that at Belle Vue and it feels like we lost a bit of it at the KMS so it's good to hear that it still goes on.
-
Loved his Mr Soft arms celebration last night.

It's the Conor McGregor walk isn't it?

Yes. Sure he did it a while back on a McGregor fight day too. And mimicked the press conference entrance. Proper lad.
-
Haven't seen the celebrations but I'm sure he said they were based on Mario Kart or something not too long ago.
-
He did a darts throw celebration last night for the first goal
-
After his 1st goal last night. He did the darts thing. The commentator said he ''must be enjoying our coverage of the darts on sky'' made me laugh
-
The mario kart is a joke between the lads as they play mario on bus and in the hotel.
The swagger is connor m
The darts were for his mum as she plays darts and promised to do it for her
-
I just think it's great to gave a WUM in our front-line whom no opposing defender wants to play against.
And it's good to see how much away fans hate him....especially Pompey fans last night.
Great signing, love him.
-
Marquis on fire 🎶 Your defence is terrified 🎶 Marquis on fire🎶
-
What about Tysons old tune??
Johnny Marquis baby, johnny Marquis whhhhoooo
-
That's a good one mush, easy to do.
-
he looked tired before thursday and i thought he needed a bit of a rest, ance but he came back with a vengeance
-
I said at half time that he must be a "confidence player".
After a few games without a goal, then getting that early on, he visibly grew in confidence.
-
All players are confidence players.
-
Yes they are but some respond differently to others when things aren't going their way.
As an ex striker I know how not scoring for a few games can get to you.
Payers snatch at chances, like Marquis did at Mansfield in the second half when he blasted wide when he could have taken a touch and steadied himself.
When one finally goes in things start to happen or you again.
