Best goal return for him in 13 seasons, at the tender old age of 35.
(needs two more to break his overall record which is 9 for Exeter in the conf)
-
He really is soooo past it.
Someone posted on here recently that he only reason he is doing well is because we are in L2 ( or something like that).
-
After 13 years of people saying the same old shite you just have to laugh really.

9 in all competitions that season CiM (1 FA Trophy goal)
Bit I make it now that he is equal 10th Rovers all time scorer in all competitions, tied with Paul Todd on 58.
-
Got a full run down of the top ten?
-
I will bite on this one....I still think this will be his last season as a regular starter...Great at this level but I still think a full season in league 1 might be beyond him now...Only time will tell....
-
Tend to agree, but no doubt having a good season.

If you bear in mind that different sources often disagree about who scored a number of goals (The Red Baron and I have compiled a list of uncertain goalscorers which need to be resolved, probably by the club), then my current best guess is (all totals in league plus all national knockout competitions):
Tom Keetley 186
Alick Jeffrey 139
Bert Tindill 133
Peter Kitchen 105
Brendan O' Callaghan 77
Colin Booth 62
Colin Douglas 62
Glyn Snodin 62
Peter Doherty 60
Paul Todd/James Coppinger 58
So 6th place looks to be within reach
As said, some sources can give slightly different totals

Go back 12 month read the same comments, go back 24 months read the same comments.
Fergie is a clever manager, he will phase him out properly to get the best out of him. When he says he can go on playing for another few years I believe him.
-
Fecking awesome again today even new wifey was singing his praises !
-
surly go down as one of our greatest.
-
I said it elsewhere this was a vintage Copps performance, vintage being the operative word.
JUST HOW DOES HE DO IT!
Can he still perform like this next season? I wouldn't write him off.
He turned that full back inside out as he does every game, well done Copps.

Legs are gone.

Head next. Flashbacks of his awful Walsall penalty a few seasons back will result in a loan to Trinity by the end of the month

Agreed CiM, he has consistently been written off by some supporters over the last 2or 3 years.
I think he will be a regular in our L1 team next season.
-
He's never had pace, so nothing there to lose, still one of the most skilful players outside the championship, if fergie manages his legs, he gonna be an important player for us next season.. deffo a chance for Tommy rowe tho to step up and become the driving force from mid field. Even more.so than he is currently trying doing this season..
-
Even though he plays for us and I'm not looking through Rovers-tinted glasses he must be about the best player in this league. When the league 2 team of season is picked he will be an automatic selection, nailed on
-
Copps is THAT good that if he does two bad passes in a match, some fans think he's had a bad game!
Copps is THAT good!
-
He keep himself very very fit. Eat right, be smart. He could probably play till he's 38.
-
I remember as a kid players regularly playing till they were 40. Teddy Sheringham etc. In fact, it seemed to be the case that if you'd managed to not have any major injuries during your career it was perfectly doable. Then in the 2000s we seemed to have a period where the players got younger and younger and sheer pace was favoured over skill.

Hi Dutch. I've got Paul Todd on 57 (49 League, 8 Cup) which would make Copps our 10th highest scorer on his own. Copps has 51 in the League for us, by the way.
-
Looks like five players could reach double figures this season the way it is going.
-
When did that last happen!!
-
Copps will keep going, he will easily manage league 1, the better players we have the better Copps will perform, well worth another 2 years, what better player to bring our youngsters through.
-
When is Copps 106 by the way
-
When is Copps 106 by the way
In another 70 or so years.
-
It's getting like those intros on Top Gear for the Stig.
"Some people say...."
"We just call him Copps!"
-
When did that last happen!!
See thread 'Stat of the Day, and Omens'
-
I saw that, thanks! I include all first team goals though meaning Mandeville already joins Marquis in double figures, and I reckon Williams had 9 and Copps and Rowe 8 each..
Twenty games left so they should all get into double figures, surely??

Incidentally IDM, 1938-39 and 1946-47 are the only two seasons with five players in double figures irrespective of whether counting only league games or all competitions.
BTW I think Rowe has only 7 so far, either way.
-
I can't remember, I will have to check..
-
7 it is.. getting ahead of myself!
-
I just hope we can maintain this standard and really put on some shows with Copps putting in some virtuoso performances. There's nothing better in football to see him gliding around defences!
