Title: At home to Scunny on Leger Saturday??
Post by: A9 on June 21, 2017, 09:14:24 am
Do we think this will move to the Sunday for policing?

Yes or Friday night

Think the fixture compilers have dropped one here. Maybe they thought the St Leger was the 9th? Imagine it will be shifted to either Friday Night or maybe Sunday would be more appropriate. I've never known a home match take place on St Leger weekend before.

I think they've cocked up, Leger a week later to avoid a clash with another meeting.

I think the Leger needs to move as it now clashes with our Doncaster VW show

Rotherham at home on 11th November also clashes with a race meeting

Does seem a bit weird, I booked a holiday that includes St Leger weekend (going Sunday 10th - Sunday 17th September) as thought that was one way to definitely not miss a home game. Looks like I was wrong!

I was under the impression that clubs could request certain dates to be deemed away games when clashing events would cause difficulties. I always thought DRFC requested Leger Saturday as an away fixture ?

In the old days, having crowds going into the races and "crowds" going into Belle Vue was the issue.
The KMS is far enough away not to cause such problems.

I suppose it could cause individuals a problem if they wanted to go to the races and the football.

Decisions?

For me, it's more than the logistics and the policing, it should be about allowing sports fans to attend both events!

Normal race days should be fine, especially in the summer when the last race doesn't conincide with the end of the football.
Leger is a whole different story though, might be ok witrhba regular game but a local derby?

It won't be played Saturday. Police won't want away fans on town on leger day

I can't remember every season over recent decades but I clearly remember having home games on a Friday night on Leger weekend.  Two in the early 80s in consecutive seasons spring to mind vs Exeter, 3-0 then 6-1 wins if memory serves.

Tough on Exeter fans!

Why does that really matter? It isn't like the game is tomorrow.

Also, Jersey posted that it had been changed at 10pm last night. They aren't putting a press release out then, are they?

It does n't really matter, and my mistake 12hours

But it would put a stop to post like mine questioning the validity of his post without anything coming out from the club

I don't really think that, for the sake of a few hours, they need to get the news out officially to quell one or two people on an internet forum talking about it.

The fact of it is, Jersey probably heard it was going to be announced somehow late last night, by which point it was set to be made public today by the clubs and the EFL. Certainly anyone in control of releasing said statement will have been at home, off the clock.
