I was just wondering how I get it to work as well...although I'm using my desktop PC. I was expecting some big obvious "iFollow" link on the official site like Player used to have.

I don't believe you need an App for the desktop. God knows what we're doing with our site but I've just registered on the Derby site for a free account for their iFollow and they're streaming our game on the main page.

Incredible how poor our site has been for a number of years now.

Tell me about it, I left player a few years ago because I wasn't happy with the service, I was really hopeful this would be better, but if they can't even design the site to make it obvious where to go then what hope have we got? The Derby County puts it right in your face on the homepage.

When I rang in to renew I was told there would be an app but not developed yet.The old EFL app worked pretty well for me

There's no app available yet as far as I can tell, at least for iphone. I've signed up for iFollow but clearly iDon'tFollow-  no idea how to access the commentary. They need to get this f**king sorted.

Yeah I have spent money on this but there is no info at all when you go on the rovers website. With a bit of savvy you could find your way around Roversplayer - this new one seems far less user friendly. I managed to listen to tonights game - hope all is well when the season starts. You don't seem to select anything like you used to do - it just seems it comes on ... or it doesn't !

I've had contact with the club and at the moment they can offer the following. We will be trying to put a better guide together when we can understand a few of the mechanics of the system better, hopefully within the next week.

So, start here;

And then read this as well;

Tried logging on last night from the link in the email.  Navigated easily enough to the login page then the problem started.  asked for email and password but got the regulation 'invalid login details' message.  After a few attempts making certain I'd entered the right password I resorted to the 'forgotten password?' button.  Which didn't work, just kept giving me the 'invalid login' message.  Tried again after clearing the password field, still no change.
Final resort sent email to iFollow and got mail back today saying they have no such email address associated with my account.  I'VE NEVER HAD A DIFFERENT EMAIL ADDRESS!

Sodding shambles!!

Well, I managed to sign up from New Zealand easily enough.
Fingers crossed it works properly come season kick off or I've just spunked $200 on nothing.

If they're broadcasting the Owls friendly, guess I'll be able to test it out then.

Gonna have some late nights, but looking forward to seeing a proper amount of Rovers action for the first time in nearly a decade.

Thinking of signing up for this but the comments are putting me off slightly.
Does this service just provide commentary or do we get to view the action as well?
I'm based outside the UK if that makes any difference.

Update!

The iFollow mobile app should be available later this week (possibly curing the ipad problems?)

The app will be necessary to access live streaming on tablet and mobile

The app will also be necessary to watch VOD content

The app will be branded to each club and available for iOS and Android

Alterations will be made to the webpage shortly to reflect that

I'm in Auckland. Been here nearly 7 years now.

I was in Auckland for the Lions game on 8 July - really enjoyed it.

We were also in Wellington for the second game and stayed with my cousin (in Karori) - NZ is a lovely place, albeit a tad expensive for drinks.
Spent a fortune on drink and eating out, but wouldn't change a thing.

What do you do mate...?

Yeah, it's pretty pricey here. And the current abysmal exchange rate won't have helped you. Wouldn't have seemed so bad a couple years ago when you got $2.50 for a quid.

It's a lovely place though, I'm yet to meet an expat who wants to go home.

I try to do as little as possible. NZ is a great place for that! But in the day they insist on me being a business analyst to make ends meet.

Gotta pay for those $10 beers somehow.

I live in Paris. I subscribed using my work computer which is apparently connected to a UK Server. So i got a UK pass.

Emailed iFollow and they replied without reading my problem ("its OK you have a subscription"). Anyway I managed to subscribe to Overseas (on iPad), but now I have two open subscriptions. They haven't replied about how to cancel my other one...awesome. The whole process is unclear how to use it.

At least I can live stream now on Saturday, downside is trying to convince my missus that I need to stay in the apartment on Saturday instead of doing something!

Couldn't really tell you. I came here married to a Kiwi I met in London, so it was a breeze for me.
It is slowly getting harder, don't think it's as tough as Australia though. They're really not keen on foreigners over there! They're not even happy about Kiwi's going there.

There's a required skills list somewhere. Have a look at the NZ immigration website. If you're on that (and you're white and speak English), you're off to a good start.

It's a good place to get away from it all. There are times you might forget the rest of the world exists.

Not much footie here, but they really, really like egg chasing!

Thanks for that - and we are looking into it...

My missus fancies Australia more - where I have other relatives, but I took a great liking to NZ and in particular Wellington... nothing against Auckland BTW

Will continue to look and see where we get. I would love to get out of the UK - spent most of my life overseas anyway (in the forces) - but find the daily grind and general depression grinds me down...

We'll see where this takes us....

Yeah, Wellington Phoenix. They play a couple games a season in Auckland. I always pop along when they do. Not many other people do though. A couple of thousand at most. Not sure how many they get when they play in Wellington. They're not really very successful, and almost had their registration for the Aussie league withdrawn at the end of last season. There's people that argue their inclusion doesn't much benefit the league.

I do go watch Auckland City play in the NZ Stirling Sports Premiership. They pull crowds of a few hundred. It's a semi pro franchise league. So the teams contesting it change willy nilly. City walk it pretty much every season. Then they win the Oceania Champions League against teams from Samoa, Fiji and the like and qualify for the the Club World Cup. They came third in that a few seasons back. Nearly set up a final with Real Madrid. That would have been a cricket score!

Dave Mulligan used to play for them for a bit of a Rovers connection.

Don't really understand why Phoenix are in A-League cos they don't really compete and they can't qualify for the Asian Champions League for a reason that escapes me so it's a bit pointless really. Can only think they get more money than they would in the NZ Premiership.
Title: Re: Ifollow
Post by: KiwiRover on August 03, 2017, 12:12:02 am
Phoenix reserves play in the NZ prem these days.
I believe NZ prem teams are only allowed to pay a few hundred $ a week. Guess the Phoenix get around that somehow.

The players here all wanna move to the A league if they can. A Fijian kid called Krishna did it a couple seasons back. He was tearing teams apart in NZ. Scores a good few for the 'Nix in the A league now. Always thought he could play in a better league to be honest.
Title: Re: Ifollow
Post by: KiwiRover on August 03, 2017, 02:16:48 am
Presumably Phoenix don't qualify for the Asia Champions League because they're from NZ and count as Oceana, despite playing in the A league. Daft, really.

When Auckland City get prize money from the CWC (I think I remember reading it was $3-4mill when they came third - quite a pot), it goes to the NZ football federation and gets distributed around all NZ sides. I'd guess the 'Nix don't see any of it.

From the FAQ:

Can I purchase a pass on a monthly basis or for a single game?

At present only season passes are available.

So why would you purchase it, watch your team all season only to miss any finals play off?

The FAQ doesn't make it clear how many of the "delayed" matches you can watch, are these included in the 46?

I have sent questions through but IFollow are obviously in a meeting to decide on the answers

Q: IFollow states that overseas subscribers can watch 46 games per season and that over 1500 games are to be streamed, can you watch any game or only those of the club you are registered with?
Q:Is there a Windows app available? How many non-live games can overseas subscribers watch? Are these game part of the 46 games quota?

A: Thank you for contacting iFollow support.

iFollow subscriptions cover the 46 league games; however, some clubs will be broadcasting some of their friendlies through the iFollow player.

Broadcasting is up to the club. Please contact the club directly at /contact-us/ to see which matches they will broadcast through the club’s iFollow site.

Could be that, but then Canadian teams are allowed to qualify for the NACL, despite playing in an American first tier. Though I think they get their continental places through this weird cup thing they do for the best Canadian teams so I guess that's how they get around it.

Apologise for what? Pointing out that the EFL have categorically stated that its not available on a match by match basis!

Edit! A small apology. It turns out that the EFL haven't updated their website and they will be issuing monthly and day passes. The service will vary depending on your location but it may well be possible to go on holiday and catch a game that you would otherwise miss.

Not real fans then are they?
Yes I have.
The difference is that I wouldn't want to watch my team for free and deprive them of the money needed for them to progress. An odd game might not matter but to watch all of your team's games for nothing is definitely offside (pun intended.)
I have no compunctions about watching the odd Premier League game and depriving the greedy big time clubs of the odd bob or two.

If it helps this is the official EFL release information. Just search for Doncaster Rovers in the app store and install from there.

iFollow Match Passes Now Available
New official [club] app also launched ahead of the opening weekend of the season

Overseas [club] fans wanting to watch this season’s action via iFollow can now purchase match passes, in addition to season long subscriptions. A match pass, costing the equivalent of just £5, will allow overseas fans to choose specific Sky Bet EFL matches to watch during the regular league season and offers fans greater choice in how they follow [club].

The new subscription offer is available ahead of the opening day of the season, which sees [club fixture details] live on iFollow on [date] in [insert club]’s first ever Sky Bet EFL league fixture to be broadcast online to overseas fans. A further 30 fixtures will be available to fans across the league over the opening weekend.

Additionally, [club] has today launched a new official club app which is available for free from the App Store and Google Play Store. Fans must download the official app in order to live stream any match via iFollow when using an iOS (Apple Store) and Android (Google Play Store) device.

Overseas fans wanting to find out more about iFollow can view subscription packages [link to subscription page] and FAQs [link to FAQs].

iFollow will, for the first time in English football, enable EFL fans based outside the UK and Republic of Ireland to watch their team during the regular Sky Bet EFL season. With an estimated 270,000 EFL fans based outside the UK, iFollow will allow clubs to enable their supporters to follow the action wherever they are in the world. More than 1,500 matches will be available in HD quality, with iFollow showing every EFL league match live unless that match has been selected by the EFL’s overseas broadcast partners.

Fans based in the UK and Republic of Ireland will still also have access to live audio commentary, highlights packages and exclusive content as part of the new offering, rebranded to replace the EFL’s previous PlayerHD platform.

What other parts were originally in the plan that got abandoned SM? I'm intrigued to know what the original ambition looked like.

It was code named Project Houdini and what changed was quite a bit. The one I expected to see that never got there was extremely fast stadium wide wi-fi for everybody. On top of that they intended to offer live data as the game was being played, i.e. how many passes, touches, tackles etc. Plus you could stream the game to your phone and see playbacks and contentious decisions almost instantaneously. I'm sure most of us could see the drawbacks with such a service but their vision was to offer something that the armchair fan couldn't get.

Yeah, sounds like it would have been quite cool. I'm surprised the fast wi-fi never came to be...giving free wi-fi access to people in public places seems to be the norm nowadays.

I agree the other exiles it sounds like a great option to reconnect with DR and I will use when travelling and other commitments allow.

It isn't showing on our site still. Checked some other clubs and seems to be available elsewhere. Any suggestions?

Have you downloaded the app? Just search for Doncaster Rovers.

Do you have to get someone to hold your cock when you're having a piss Frosty?

Surely that would be a wipe

It's working perfectly for me, though it did start a minute or two after kick off. Technically, though, it's working for me on either iPhone via the App or on the Mac via Safari.

I've also tried doing a Skype conference at the same time and the other people on the conference could hear the commentary in relatively clear quality. Perhaps we need to restart the old version of the Lucky Pint using Skype conference!

Working fine for me too now. At first wasn't even though I'd signed in. I went back to the sign in page again and then back to the match page, and suddenly all good :)

Not sure if it's been cover or asked previous?

Question for sm

I have subscribed for quite a few years just for the away games I don't get too, and I always listen on my tablet and my son listens on his desktop.
On this new system can 2 people not listen too the game , it was cutting me off with the message already playing on another device

Don't wanting to cancel but can you clarify for us that it's not possible to listen on more than one device at the same time ?

Cheers redbrez

I'll get the definitive answer for you, but my guess would be that its restricted to single devices because of the added content.

Yanks bud, and if it's resticted to one device , can they put an extra option for multiple  devices ?

I questioned this  a couple of weeks ago with iFollow technical team. You can only be logged into one device at a time. So no sharing the subscription even in your own household!

Not disputing that but when I tried it wouldn't let us. That's when they told me I could only be signed in on one device.

Hi, I've had it confirmed officially that you can only use one device at a time. They will consider multiple devices at some future stage.

So I can actually watch the game scheduled for that day ?

Apologies but I'm a bit late into this conversation.

Yes. Set up an account and then pay for the game on the day.
