On his way to Bristol City?
-
He must have a good agent
-
Good luck to him that’s a great move.
-

Or he is a class player and massively underrated by DRFC fans?
-
Amazing
-
He’s got loads of quality. Good move for him and a low cost gamble for city.
-
Good player but not consistent in League One. Struggle to see how that will change in Championship.
-
So despite missing that pen he is (so far) the only one of our players to make it to the Championship next season.
-
Hows he pulled that f**ker off? Don't get me wrong hes a good player but at a team knocking on door of championship play offs no chance.

“Filling in at left-back”
Oh my word.
-
Hes a good player. Dont understand the slagging. Good luck to him

“Filling in at left-back”
Oh my word.
That's what I thought when I read it. I've put a question mark in my opening post after reading the article fully because as you can see it is mainly conjecture!!
-
For some reason most of the players that leave us get slagged off by our fans.
-
Nigh on every post has praised him as a good player. Him going to a play off seeking Championship side is more than a little surprising.
-
Great player and servant to drfc , good look to him , treated poorly last 6 months by club and fans , will be missed , clubs going down hill rapidly
-
Ok.
-
If you have to lower yourself to insulting someone with an abhorrent term then you have already lost the argument, ZiggaZagga.
-
I would have slapped money on him going to Peterborough, but great move for him, GM dint appreciate what he had but it looks like it was an assassination job he was doing
-
Well, Lord knows I've been wrong on player judgements before, but this makes absolutely no sense. I'll be amazed if he makes more that half a dozen league starts there.
-
I think that most Rovers fans concerns were about his fitness. His form like most could be up and down but also played out of position a lot.
Good luck to him and I hope that he's happy there.
-
If he gets a 2 year contract at say £5k a week he could be set for life,as there’s no transfer fee to pay , then in 2 years time if he’s still fit and played a few games he could get another deal at a league 2 club, just a thought
-
As you rightly pointed out idler Rowe is a great player but unfortunately rather injury prone . An expensive player to keep fit . Good luck to Tommy though he is quality when fit and up to speed!! Bit like Baudry in quality imo but similar injury issues ?
-
I don't see any slagging either unless you deem that an opinion of him being inconsistent is that.
At times he was great. At times he was anonymous. At the end of the day I and others were of the opinion he wasn't worth an improved contract. Moreover, the club clearly felt the same and he exercised his option not to stay.
Indeed, good luck to him.
-
He must have a good agent

No he has a very good agent , one that can sell a player who spent quiet a lot of career in the treatment room .
-
Where ever Tommy goes good luck to him. Even though GM decided not to play him when clearly fit he forced himself back in the side. His goals per minutes played was the best of all our midfield players. He as still not been replaced in the present squad so let’s hope the new manager can do that. I believe GM thought he’d got his replacement with Newell and that fell through by then he’d allowed Tommy to go.
-
When assessing whether you want to offer a player a new contract or not you base that decision on his effectiveness for the team and his recent displays, which in Rowe's case have been poor except for 2 or 3 performances. Added to the fact he never looked fit, carrying too much timber and was injury prone then you can understand McCann's decision. Based on the above, I can't understand Bristol's decision to sign him unless they have got him as back-up and on the cheap Championship wise.
-
I have no problems with our players moving on, they want more money for showing a great performance in the previous season, admired by other clubs. It seems that Rovers don't want to pay what they wanted, so they have moved on to bigger and better things according to their agents. If Bristol City have hit the right notes, and he thinks he can get into the team, then he has made a good choice, good luck to him.
-
Where Rowe ends up now is fairly irrelevant to his departure from us. I don’t feel he’s performed at Championship standard, but good luck to him if that’s where he goes - it would be a great move for him.
In terms of the impact on our team and squad, I’m much more disappointed by the decision not to offer acceptable terms to Butler, and he’s ended up a league below. This is why I feel the destination is a misleading barometer.
Hindsight is easy, but had we known that we wouldn’t get Downing then we should have kept Butler. And had we known that McCann would walk out then we should ideally have kept Butler. His leadership would’ve been vital to steadying the ship around the first team picture. In fact I suspect he’d have been in temporary charge now.
What a shame. I backed the basis of decisions taken by McCann at the time. It turns out that faith was misplaced.

On his way to Bristol City?
there must be something dodgy in the bristol water (maybe they have diluted it) they've just given the bloke "who picks up the managers wages every week an extension" meaning unlikely to sack him this year :crying: :crying: :crying:
May 23 2019 "Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson has signed a new four-year contract, extending his stay at Ashton Gate until 2023."
funny old world ... they couldn't afford to sack him a while ago and once again they can't. Remember heckingbottom took over seamlessly when he left Barnsley (and some of em wanted rid)
"Bristol City
On 6 February 2016, Johnson was appointed as the new manager of relegation-threatened Championship club Bristol City, signing onto a three-and-a-half-year deal, after an undisclosed compensation fee was agreed between the Robins and Barnsley.[30] Under Johnson's management, Bristol went on to record several victories during their sixteen games in the league, eventually finishing a comfortable twelve points above the relegation zone in eighteenth place.[33] Despite the loan signing of Tammy Abraham, who scored 26 goals for the club in the 2016–17 season, Bristol remained in the relegation dogfight until the penultimate game of the season,[34] eventually finishing three points above the relegation zone in seventeenth place, a minor improvement of their previous season's finish.[35]
Despite fans demanding for Johnson to be dismissed, he remained as Bristol manager ahead of the 2017–18 season"
perhaps TR makes a good cup of tea ?

Confirmed he has signed for Bristol City....
-
Well done Tommy best minutes per goal midfield player neglected by GM when fit. Forced his way back in. GM’s value of him was wrong but we could not afford to keep him the way GM wanted to share across the squad. Let’s hope the new manager can find a better replacement, for a side aiming again for promotion.

two year deal as in one and another one :clapping: Can I have £1 on him being loaned to Bristol Rovers please
-
Best of luck to him

I thought we looked a better team for the parts of the season when he wasn’t in it. Whiteman, Kane and Crawford or Blair were more effective. Rowe seemed to struggle with the tempo a lot of the time. I can see the logic in McCann’s decision. More disappointed with the Butler one.
Overall Rowe has been good for us, though. And like you say he has a great left foot that always makes him a goal threat. I liked him coming off the bench for that.
Bristol City is a great move for him. We’ll need to get someone else in once we get a manager in place.
Hopefully we challenge for promotion, Steve, as I know you’ll be highly delighted if we do.
-
Great move for him, what an agent he has getting him a 2 year deal too! Can't see him playing much but nice way to finish your last few years as a top level pro.
-
Great move for him, disappointed in his overall contribution to be honest, good luck to him.
-
Crawfordbworks hard but little light weight.
-
He'll have to work really hard in that divison when he's on the pitch to hold down a place he won't even be one of the more talented players at Bristol so other areas of his game become more important. As pretty much everyone has said he's ability wise one of the better players in the divison but we didn't see it enough.
For what it's worth under GM i thought he's be better played in the front three in a similar way to copps. That's where rowe was good in the attacking third so worth giving him more time there.

Yes I would be and so would GB because he says after the new manager is appointed that will the aim again this season.

Like you Jon I’m disappointed with the allowing Butler to leave, 1year contract, that’s what he got at Scunthorpe. He’s a leader plays well at league 1 level. Like Tommy let’s hope their replacements are better than them.
-
I spoke to Rowe briefly right before the playoff game and he came across like a nice guy. He will be chasing the money in the final few years of his career, fair play to him.
-
I like Rowe as a player. He's been good for us in his time here and if there was one player who didn't deserve to go down in Ferguson's first season it was him.
But, for all the quality, he wasn't available to start enough games last season. He's 30 and he'll have been one of the bigger earners. I'm happy that both him and us move on.
Pleased that he's sorted himself out with a decent club and glad that he's not followed his old boss to Peterborough; you just know he would have scored against us if he had.
-
None of us know this of course, so this is mere supposition - but given he has signed for a leading Championship club, it could be that his wage demands were indeed unrealistic for a League One club like us....
-
In many games that Rowe played for us he was brilliant, none more so than his last ever game for us. But in just as many he was anonymous. If he’d resigned for us he would have been our top earner, and for me his output wouldn’t justify the outlay. BigH has it exactly right, it was the right time for both parties to move on.

Chose not to meet his contract demands does not necessarily equal could not afford to keep him but why let truth get in the way of a hissy fit 🤣

It not a hissy fit. I wrote GM wanted to share across the group so could not afford to keep him on his wage demands. By the way the hissy fit was thrown by GM when he thought he got Newell to replace Tommy and he went elsewhere on more money. Or just like GM did.
It really does matter it’s whether we can get a better replacement now on what ever wages are available.
-
It doesn’t mean we couldn’t afford him at all, more we chose not to meet his demands.?
-
Let’s hope we can meet the demands of a better player who will replace him that’s what counts now.

I see no reason at all why we can’t.
