We are back at The Valley for the first time since that night in the Play-Offs, I take it most of us will be watching on iFollow?

I'm quite looking forward to this one as I think it'll be a good game. Hopefully we've learned lessons from last week!

Gobsmacked! I think Taylor particularly is a lucky man to have retained his spot!
DM's very brave to stick with the same XI so must have faith in the players. Let's hope that's rewarded.
At least it should be easier to detect any improvement on last week.

got a feeling we might get tennis balls thrown on the pitch today from outside ( Charlton fans mentioned protests) -- we had apples thrown on in Scotland last saturday -

Would have liked to have seen Copps and Fejiri get a start

Certainly thrown the youngsters into the deep end again ... but will they sink or swim? Will be interesting to see. It’s a lot to ask of them and if it goes badly wrong, not going to do their confidence much good. I would have liked to have seen a bit more experience for the first half rather than later in the game.

I'm sure there must be a play when fit clause in the loanee's contracts. Not saying they aren't good players but it's the only way i can make a case for not starting Copps, feji, or Lokilo.
Case and point would be Cam John last year when on loan he'd have started these games 100%. Probably at left back with James missing much of preseason but now he's one of ours he's dropped in place of the form players (Anderson/Wright) which is what should happen. Appears to only apply to contracted players though.

Why can't Darren have just chosen to play one player over another? He sees them every day in training, he knows what he's doing.
It does annoy me when fans immediately get on the manager/players back for not doing what they want them to. Okenabirhie will get his chance.

Some said the same last season but that theory was kicked into touch when James was picked ahead of John and DM said he believed in horses for courses!

I saw that on Twitter too so not just me who thinks it can happen. Yeah Amos got a run after John was very poor at left back for a number of games. Not saying there is a clause just appears there’s some favouritism. IMO Amos should have played when James was injured from day one why try converting g a centre half when we have a back up left back
What reason can you give for labelling anyone who might question that as an idiot? We know loans can have that element to them and having seen a fair number of poor loanees play games despite been poor (kongolo springs to mind) isn’t it a reasonable question?

It's an assumption after two games of a team being picked by a pragmatic manager. I agree with Amos should have started but we're not the manager. Making a statement like "must play when fit" after seeing a player for 90 mins is a bit conspiracy theorist.

We had a bright start but Charlton have started to assert themselves. Decent low save by Bursik when their man was given too much space on the edge of the box, then a free header 6 yards out which was a bad miss.

Marginally so I'd say. Overall looking better. Possession from the back is markedly improved, not rushing so much. Midfield strong, still some way to go there though. Lokilo impressing since he came on though could do with being a bit sharper in getting a killer ball in and releasing to others.

We've pressed well in their half imo. I think keepers and defenders will hate John-Jules.

That was much better from us. Looked much more confident after the goal. Expect Charlton will come at us in the second half. Which might just suit us with the pace we have.

A good first half that, getting on the ball well and carving out chances. I think Taylor is playing well just needs to inprove that end product.
I'd prescribe snooker or pool - learning which point of contact with the ball makes it go in which direction.

I'd use the word "languid" for Richards. He's definitely not lazy. He's one of those players who eats up ground without appearing to put in effort. But he's like a proper mester in challenges. And he was starting to be targeted for some rough stuff by the last 10 minutes.

Richards is anything but lazy, he has a considered manner but I wouldn't even call him languid to be honest, he has used his footwork to great effect and is looking for passes that others can't see. I really think he's a quality player.

yes just watched it and Charlton is only 7 miles from Crystal palace so Lokilo would have loved to have scored "in South London"

Where did I say he was lazy? I said that particular pass was lazy, which is how it looked to me. Anyone can make a lazy pass if they take their eye off the ball, it’s not a slight on them in general.

We looked far better this week than last week, I thought. The lads are gelling nicely.

And Gomes - what a game he had. Played in a Paul Green box to box style. Broke up so much and chased back on the breakaway against us.

Let see this squad grow together this season some young players learning their trade at this level. Some players who have pick up where they left off last season. A manager who knows his own mind and gets the best out of players. Also the ones not playing will play come October when we will have games in midweek aswell as weekends.

Going from Twitter it's the same people who after us only signing Lokilo decided that we were only signing players on 1 year deals and loanees.

Just seen some comments from Charlton fans saying it was Charlton youth vs drfc senior pros. Funny the starting 11 for us was just 23 and for them 25.
