Sad to report the death of our former Rovers boss .
-
Maurice was the first manager i remember, when starting off on my Rovers path as a supporter.
Was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease six years ago.
He spent the last two years in a residential home but became unwell a week ago and passed away at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary on Sunday morning.

R I P Maurice. Condolences to all the family.

I remember him very well, both as DRFC manager and then afterwards. We used to discuss football when he and I were members at Terry Holians gym.
-
I had not realised he was still a local ...hos sad ..condolences to the family .
I do remember what a tough hard tacking midfielder he was with Man U .

Although as a kid I was pleased to see Stan Anderson come in and turn things around he was always very polite and patient years later when I’d bump into him in the Red Lion in Tickhill.
And as one old drinker in there reminded me, although he didn’t pull up any trees as boss at Rovers, he was a very good footballer that Matt Busby rated very highly.

That is sad news
Please excuse my memory but wasn’t he Robert Betts ?? Grandfather?

Apparently he was an unused squad member for England at the 1958 world cup
