Has anyone on here had any recent dealings with the hire of JCB’s, drivers, cost etc

Can't really say it was recent (5 years) but I used Westmoreland Construction at Kelham Street to excavate my front (with JCB) and put down the sub-base for a hard standing.

Depends what size you want but 200 a day with an operator is fair for a 1.5t machine.

Thanks for that mate, the job I’ve got in mind would only take a couple of hours

You'd still be looking at paying the same day rate whether it be 2 hours or 8 hours.

No one would take out a machine for £60/£80

Yes I thought that, I’ve got a couple of local numbers to ring, most likely cash in hand

I looked in mini digger hire but I’ve got some large  tree stumps moving so I can burn them, also there’s 3 large mounds of soil to level out

Burn then in situ

I’ve tried that but there’s about 20 of them and a lot have soil still on them
