Looking like Fej and Smith have knocks.

Another interesting line up. If we do the basics well, we still have match winners on the pitch.
Title: Re: TLOD V Stanley
Post by: PDX_Rover on February 17, 2021, 06:40:37 pm
I actually think that’s a decent line up.
Title: Re: TLOD V Stanley
Post by: steve@dcfd on February 17, 2021, 06:43:32 pm
We will see if Bostock and Robertson can protect the back four and set up attacks can Taylor and Simoes cause  enough problems going forward. James at Left Back let’s see what some supporters we have been missing.

Smith and Okenabirhie have knocks so let’s hope they along with Tom are available for Saturday.

Has it been reported that Smith has a knock? Could just be his turn to sit out - we can only name 5 loanees. I did read that we had a couple that had knocks (unnamed), so he could well be one of them.

An almost traditionally correct formation, players playing in normal places, hopefully all knowing their roles well. Fingers crossed we get back on track tonight.

Hopefully we have chosen a penalty taker if we get one could do with a win so we keep in touching distance of the top and makes more daylight to teams behind

Ball out from Balcombe to someone under pressure.

So many problems this season caused by poor clearances.

We have played into tight situations on a few occasions in the last twenty five minutes.
Too many times really and it was looking more and more likely that it would end up with conceding a goal.

Post by: Filo on February 17, 2021, 07:49:37 pm
We don’t cope well when pressed, two shocking passes from Butler, and if Balcombe is not going to improve his kicking, kick it long, one big plus is Bogle is everything Fej is not in that role
Title: Re: TLOD V Stanley
Post by: pib on February 17, 2021, 07:50:07 pm
Playing it short and to feet from goal kicks to try to get control of possession, I can understand.

What I can’t understand is floating the ball into a dangerous area in our own half where the chances of giving possession away and being left wide open increase massively.

Really disappointing goal to concede, and it’s just about deserved. We had a decent opening 10 mins but just haven’t kept it going.

All so unnecessary! We're just not good enough at the back to get away with it!
Title: Re: TLOD V Stanley
Post by: big fat yorkshire pudding on February 17, 2021, 07:51:23 pm
We mostly played ok but defence looked shaky being pressed and I'm not convinced there's anyone to really break up midfield.

Criminal allowing midfield runners like that.

Yep, and we don't press in return - we just give them space up to the half way line!

We are playing a lot better than any of our recent games. Just need to stop messing about at the back. So much better with James at LB. Give it 15 minutes and if we are still behind bring on Simms for Taylor.

Sloppiness at the back and slow play two wide men that are not showing their best. Okenabirhe and Sims would be better out wide .Joe Wright is not Tom Anderson. Midfield two ok, Bostock and Smith would be better.  So let’s hope we can get back into this game needs Sims on if he’s ready and Probably Lokilo.

Post by: Jersey Rover on February 17, 2021, 07:57:03 pm
There are times when you just have to clear your lines. If there’s no pass on, don’t try and pass it. I’m all for playing good football out from the back but not if it’s not on. It’s becoming a very predictable way of teams breaking us down, use a high line.
Title: Re: TLOD V Stanley

it took ACC 20 minutes to settle then when the pressure came on our passing went off

Yet another blathering defeat on the cards and the team seemed to be well in control.....until we started gifting them unforced errors.... I did say we hadn’t quite finished with that “ losing”  tag...
Impressed with Bogle , would like to see Fej on for Simoes to get onto some of that good old Bogle hold up play....

Robert on is not putting himself about enough physically, so Accy will own the middle of the park for long periods....

Look on the bright side....we were nearly good enough for a top two, but on this trajectory we are now looking to consolidate a top 6 place with a few hounds nipping at our heals....

Right ...second half to prove me wrong

I'll take first 20 mins any day. Then we invited them on. Should deffo mix it up playing short and long from the back. The slowest quick free kick I'd ever seen was warning enough.

Plus who gave Butler dispensation to wear white boots. Saw he wore them at Sunderland!

Get Richards more on the ball and things will happen. Bogle doing OK.

No it will not change, DM likes his teams playing that way, albeit not so badly! The defence are too hesitant to make the right pass, so resort to passing between themselves, that is why Whiteman dropping soooo deep worked, he took the ball and decision making from them. Bostock should be the man to step in here, he still looks a yard of the pace to me - but that might be how he is?

What I find very frustrating is that we never have a bloke on the half way line when defending a set price, the result is no outlet when the ball is cleared.

And this isn’t just a Moore thing, McCann and Fergie were the same from memory.

And while we’re taking set prices, we rarely threaten from them, so frustrating.

Absolute garbage again , midfield sitting deep all match and no desire to bomb on

I think we are nowhere near as good as some of us thought we were.

we are into FFS territory now.
lost for words, this downturn is so disappointing. Just don't know what to expect for rest of season.

The other week someone said we were 14/1 to be champions and my wife almost convinced me to put 100 quid on. Luckily I’m not a gambling man and chose not to, I would have been better just chucking 100 quid in the fire. The last 3 games are so frustrating to watch

We’ve been shite for the last 5 games, we just got lucky in two of them

Another lesson in how to pass the ball when you have it and how to hassle when you don't! FFS why don't we learn anything! The way we're playing Stanley will finish above us!  :turd:

You've got to be honest, that was f**kin' rubbish! You couldn't even say Stanley were that good but, for some reason, we just can't cope with route one, in your face, opposition.

Might be just be, but I didn’t think they were route one. They just know which areas of the pitch to try to play football in and when to play the percentages, which unfortunately we don’t.

Been a long time since we out played anyone. Winning games with a lot of luck/good defending has papered over a few cracks. Still playoff chasing which we expected but talk of title challenge is looking silly now

They are obviously playing to instructions so for me DM has to take some of the blame.

Stanley are a decent team. Compact and use the space well. Put a foot in to break up play. Effective.

We had a couple of periods there where we were very much on top but we passed rather than shot, or went backwards. We have to be more incisive.

We really missed Matt Smith. Bogle looks decent. Bostock has class but needs to get up to speed. Disappointed with Simoes and Tayls tonight.

We move on. Again.

The word you're all looking for is "shite".
