Team sheet’s in at 2. I’m expecting Bostock and James to be out but Fej to be in.

Simoes back after we wrote him off earlier in week - Jammo is a real +

Fej being in is positive and DA replaced on ifollow i guess
Title: Re: TLOD v Cobblers
Post by: NickDRFC on March 13, 2021, 02:12:47 pm
Interesting to see how we line up with that - James wide left up front, Lokilo wide right and Simoes 10? Or James sitting with Robertson and Smith playing more advanced.

Sims hasn’t looked right since coming back so hopefully a rest/recovery from a knock will do him good. Surprised Simoes is straight in to start but Coppinger/Richards starting for the 3rd time in 8 days is maybe a game too far.

Relief that at least we have a no 9 starting.

Just hope we keep it simple. Do the basics well, keep the opposition to nil and build from there.

We have match winners on the bench so no excuses for the starting XI not to give it 100% from the off.

3 points vital today.

How can the ref not book Hoskins there for kicking the ball away, right under his nose.
If he does he stamps his authority on the game.

Ref tells physio to come on for the head injury and the players say no said head injury player then takes the free kick.

In Butlers first two games last week we were moving the ball much more quickly than we had been doing in previous weeks.
It seems to have slipped back to slow again today, and at Crewe to be truthful.

They are looking more of a threat....can’t see us getting anything at all from this one...giving away far too many set pieces, now the positives..............................................Fej is back and ....Simoes looks quite handy....

And Lokilo is not very good .

Sometimes the stupidity of footballers baffles me. We’re over a minute into stoppage time and have the chance to create one last opportunity if we swing it into the box...and Smith takes it short. Mind boggling.
Title: Re: TLOD v Cobblers
Post by: Bailey Vickerage on March 13, 2021, 03:50:18 pm
Don’t know how it’s took until half time for someone to be booked with the amount of times they kicked the ball away and dived

Post by: dknward2 on March 13, 2021, 03:50:45 pm
Finally a yellow for them hope they can pick up a few more early in the 2nd

All the diving must have been watching Lincoln winning all the penalties
Title: Re: TLOD v Cobblers
Post by: swain_drfc on March 13, 2021, 03:50:56 pm
Ref has lost control of this game.

On another note. Last kick of the first half and we are playing the free kick short? Why? That is so so poor.

One of these teams is in 21st place and one is in 5th....

But im sure the excuses for this lacklustre performance will be numerous

The commentary team are seriously wearing rose tinted glasses....making abject mediocrity sound great...
Title: Re: TLOD v Cobblers
Post by: drfchound on March 13, 2021, 03:51:40 pm
Again, that number four kicks the ball away right in front of the ref and the useless get doesn’t book him.
Also he should take action against the player who dived to try and win a pen just before half time.
Even Bogle said “what is he doing”.
Title: Re: TLOD v Cobblers

That is an excuse for us not being able to play round them or through them.....I am not seeing a team I support playing better than the team we are playing....
The ref is their to do a job, he will make mistakes, players will dive....they are only important when you are looking for any reason to justify the possibility of defeat....
All I can see is Northampton attacking better than us and defending better than us with a team 16 places lower than us....

I think that they outplayed us in every area of the pitch...
I think we looked like a team jst above the drop zone....
When a team is in the top 6 it tends to have something about it that makes it special.........in our case it’s been huge amounts of luck, and a tendency to flatter to deceive....

Yes we have won many games, but we have only really outclassed maybe a handful of those teams........
the only excuse for losing is by not being as good as your opposition....

you're a bit of a negative character, aren't you sha66y?

No, not really,
but I’m sick of trying to excuse what I see in front of me....

Yes I could say that we are playing good solid football, and when we lose I could say that we were unlucky.....but that would be a bit dishonest....

Current betting on Sky, Rovers 3/1 to win, Nhampton 5/1 1/2 the draw. They don't have much faith in either team scoring!

Ok...so I don’t come across as being too negative..

That was a good solid performance by rovers, many great passages of play and with a bit of luck we could have been worthy winners,  I feel the ref allowed far too much play acting by the cobblers
Special mention to all the team for putting in a good shift and getting a well earned point......

Those top two places are getting further out of reach.
Now twelve points behind Hull and six behind Peterbro.
Before anyone mentions the games in hand, remember that we would need to win them all.
We had games in hand that would have taken us top had we won them.......and we didn’t.

The only way we could catch is if we had the best eleven players, playing match after match but injuries have reduced that and some of those players are still not available.

Didn't see today's game so can't comment on the performance, but the result is very disappointing. We really needed to win today with three consecutive awkward away games to come now we'll be doing well to hang on to a play off place.

In Butlers first two games last week we were moving the ball much more quickly than we had been doing in previous weeks.
It seems to have slipped back to slow again today, and at Crewe to be truthful.
Bostock effect. We are bang average at the moment without Bostock & Bogle. Bostock would have unpacked their defence today if he was playing!

I just remembered the Cruyff turn by Louis Jones in the second half.
That is the second time he has done it since he came into the team.
