Come on Q of S they are my adopted favourite Scottish Club.
Did quite a bit of advertising sales in the Dumfries , Annan and Lockerbie areas in a previous life.
I have never been to any Scottish league ground though other than the other Queens
Hampden Park to watch Scotland v England 1973
114,000 in there. Like sardines we were.

I was there in 1972 when Alan Ball scored the only goal. Have never been so scared on the train from Hampden back into Glasgow.

Yes sorry 1972 What an atmosphere.
1973 I was at Wembley. 80.000 Scott’s inside and around another 20,000 outside.
Every one of them were ‘pissed’ but no trouble that year. It was 75 when they broke the goal posts I think.
Crazy days they were.
-
I was there in 77 in the Scottish end, which part wasn't, not a moments trouble handing the beer and the drams round even to us 3 sassonachs
-
77 was the win for Scotland 1-2 The posts and turf copped it that day
75 was 6-0 to England - I always count Bruce Riochs penalty to make it 6-0 not 5-1 as he was born in Aldershot
79 England 3-1
I went to all 3 but still laugh at the 77 scenes 'cos for a few miles on the Coach the kilted ones were celebrating and baiting. Lots had nicked turf and had it dangling from their underpants like a Sporran but hidden below their kilts. As we passed pubs or went round roundabouts they would lift their kilts revealing the turf and adding different hand gestures
Funnier still were the ones with no turf and no underpants - but they didnt miss any passing Coaches

I used to work around Gretna Annan and Creca [Peat Bogs] and QOS played Rangers and I had to go to that
Rangers had the whole of one side of ground and The Doonhamers sang almost to a man "if you hate the f.....g english - clap your hands" to the Rangers lot for most of the game.

When Ball scored, the ground went silent and all you could hear was Bally’s squeaky voice shouting something like get in you bas**rd.

I went to England v Scotland 1983 at Wembley, Brian Robson and Gordon Cowens scored in a 2-0 win, ended up in a high speed crash just outside Biggleswade on the A1 on the way home

Not quite an ex Rover but I see one of our managerial nearly men from earlier this year John Eustace is a contender for the Swansea job.
That would be interesting to see how he gets on…

Danny Amos training with Port Vale.

I think Gomes is still at Portsmouth on trial. Been a couple of weeks now so would look more positive than negative if they still haven't binned him.

Liam Hoden did a piece on Gomes for the Portsmouth News a few days back...

Now you mention it, you are right. There was a local paper reference to him:
"Gomes made 55 appearances at Doncaster across two years, with the Spaniard spending time previously with Liverpool and Leeds.
But after Cowley had assessed the midfielder, he wasn’t deemed the type of option the Pompey boss believes could add something to his squad next season as he carries out his overhaul."

I guess he won’t be thanking Hoden for the reference.

Not so much on the move but I’ve noticed Shane Blaney and Luke McCullough have both been playing European football over the Irish Sea in recent weeks.
