Title: Keep calm
Post by: Sammy Chung was King on October 20, 2021, 02:07:50 am
We were told this was going to be a tough season, it has been so far.
Wellens hasn’t been able to sign everything he needed with the funds available. We all know we need a bit of experience in there, a ball winner is a must as quickly as possible.

Also though the whole squad isn’t doing enough. They are paid a decent wage to pull our shirt on, their should be a pride in playing for us.
It is a good club to play for, we’ve never stood in the way of player bettering themselves and young players get opportunities to play if good enough.

I think every single player in the squad can give more. They need to stop going out fearful and enjoy a job that many would love to do!.
Richie was told he could plan long term, but he doesn’t seem to have planned short term, you must get enough results to retain your job to get to the long term.

He needs to stop using excuses in interviews, this must be transferring to the players, giving them reason to feel sorry for themselves.
I worry that he has mostly brought in young players because he can’t handle the experienced players.

The board has a decision to make, are they prepared to let him bring some experience in to help the young players develop, or are they happy to carry on drifting?.
We need a ball winner and a blood and guts centre half who will organise the team.
The manager and all his staff and the players need to keep working hard.
No excuses ,get on with getting us up the table.

Now is not the time to be changing managers but mistakes are being made and they need to be cut out.
They are all capable of better than this. The players need to take responsibility on the field and change the situation, they are the only ones who can!.

It is early in the season but they’ve had time to blend together, results are needed. Work together and get the best from themselves.
Pass, pass, pass is fine but goals win games. Start making a difference in games, don’t pass the buck, take responsibility yourself for improving things.

The time for patience has gone, games need to be won and this manager and set of players are capable of producing that.

Are there any out of contract ball winners SCWK ? Genuine question as you seem to have very good knowledge on players

Nothings changed for me.

We knew it was going to be tough and will take time to turn things around. He has another transfer window when hopefully we can tweak things even more.

He's not had the best of luck with injuries. We need Fejiri, John and Taylor back as soon as possible.

Certainly didn't expect anything v Wycombe and Gillingham away is always unpredictable but we put on a decent performance, particularly first half by all accounts.

I don't understand why folk expect things to change so drastically by starting to beat the top end teams. It's just unrealistic.

Lamine Kone without a club ex Sunderland-Expensive option probably.
Matthew Kilgallon, was with us on loan many years ago. 37 years old playing in non league at Buxton. Until the end of the season?.
Gianni Zuiverloon 34, ex West Brom, free agent.
Babacar Diallo, 32 Played in Finland and US.
Winston Reid 33, ex West Ham, unlikely.
Martin Crainie 35, ex Barnsley.

Denilson 33, ex Arsenal been playing in Brazil.
Paul Gladon 29, 6ft 2in, ex Sparta Rotterdam, short spell at Wolves, striker.

Totally agree its like "this seasons going to be tough" is expected to change every game into a great one.

Keep going RW, let's get behind the team no matter what as especially till Jan we have no choice. Fingers crossed we can sign 1 or 2 decent players to make enough just enough difference this season to stay up.

Makes you think his injury was/is a lot more serious than initially thought. Big shame for the lad as he looked amazing in his first spell with us

Read all the “ we needs” but didn’t see the solutions?

Where are these ball winners and commanding centre halves?

Mere rhetoric otherwise!
Solution is very simple ..stop follow the blind man ( Baldwin) up yet another alley as he is clueless as to what direction it takes ..Every mistake attributed to the stagnation of the club falls very much on his poor decision making over several seasons and failure to stand back and let another take the reigns when he knows the task requires knowledge that doesn’t poses  !!

Why Keep Calm? When things are sliding backwards towards league 2 and isn’t where the club should be . Wellens is delusional if he thinks that the excuse of only being 25% of the job is done . Having signed 14 players how many of those will have be rejected  if the other 75% is to be completed. Wellens is OUT! of his depth , but is so sycophantic that Baldwin speaks through him. It won’t take many more dropped points before his job of ruining this club will be complete. Less season tickets sold, even a lower budget and probably even more kids having to put on the shirt in L2. Keep Calm the jobs nearly completed !!

I think we’ve landed, no more sliding….we are at the bottom, however it’s now about testing the metal of the fanbase, seeing who can’t cope and who can….

Slagging everything that moves off is not really going to achieve anything…

I guarantee that if we do get relegated, 99.99% of those on this forum who are currently not happy will be snapping up season tickets next year!

I changed my mind but I do regret it now as I think we’ve been sold a pipe dream just to stay in L1 ! If Wellens is gone next season L1or2 I will buy again and take that as the “new norm” for DRFC .

Yes it will be nice but just one game. Just as one loss is not the end of the world, a win doesn’t mean we are world beaters either.
It would be nice to enjoy a win but game isn’t finished yet.

Gavin is by far the best CEO this club has ever had, try and name a better one if you can. He also has the confidence of the other board members and they know a thing or two about running business's properly.

I notice you blame him for individual decisions, without being specific, yet he's there to carry out the instructions of the board and not to follow his own whims.

But you have to give him credit for the off field performance of the club, we're a club that can now generate significant income from other activities and one day that will become very evident. Most clubs would love to be able to do that.

Gerrard’s not the only one - we sit just below the camera area where Wellens has recently taken to watching the games - constant barrage of expletives, moans, shouting at Hunt and Gerrard to tell player x to do this and player x to do that - either through the completely inadequate headphone sets or loudly down to the dug out at the top of his voice - the man is a serial whinger and rules by fear, by the sound of it. He went down to give Hunt a bollocking for losing concentration for a nano-second.
Having sat behind his dad when he played with Rovers at Burnley I can see where he gets his impatient arrogance from.

Not nice to have to sit through.

Far too much of this being made.
If it was a problem then Hunt, Gerrard etc etc would not be happy bunnies and it is quite obvious Noel Hunt gets on very well with Richie and have worked together for some time.

It is simply the way RW is. It does not have to be a problem.

Well he won’t be offended then when he gets some stick and complaints back from those sitting directly underneath his foul mouthed rants - especially those sat with young children.

Or is that acceptable because of “his nature”.
Title: Re: Keep calm

I agree- also sit right below where Ritchie was dishing out a constant barrage of expletives.
I've witnessed many managers in my time watching the Rovers from George Raynor, through Stan Anderson , Dave Cusack , Seam O'Driscoll et al. All of these managers have different styles in how they  try to motivate players during matches. Anderson for example used to sit in the dugout overcoat collar up and make no attempt to influence what was or was'nt going on on the pitch.
Ritchie seems to be trying to reincarnate his playing career with a constant barrage of advice/instructions/rollickings and occassionally a little praise very publicly. Not sure myself if this helps or hinders performance on the field but I know that when I played any advice from the pitch side that suggested I was f***ing useless was not appreciated!
I know pro football is a different animal but surely our players need a bit more selective advice rather than the apparent constant ranting?

Yep. Foul language by uneducated cretins. Bloke near me a few weeks back with a young son hurling abuse literally everytime he opened his gob. Never actually spoke to his kid once. Total moron.

Christ knows how that kid is gonna grow up. When shown arrogance, abuse and aggressiveness by his example setter of a parent.

In the heat of the moment we all knock out a swear word or two but some people are at it constantly.

They forget they are out in public. On day release probably.

Should learn to have to self restraint and awareness of who is around them or stay at home.

Whether I’m with my nieces or my 6 year old grandson, any foul language from someone within glaring distance gets that glare.

If the swearing continues the glare escalates to ‘a word in your ear’.

I don’t know what would happen after that because I have never had to go to Defcon 3 as yet.

I’d like to think I’d bring it to the attention of a steward & they would sort it…..who know’s.
