We’ve had a few “that must be the worst bench we’ve put out since being back in the football league” posts this season, but is that the worst (or, being kind, least experienced) starting XI? Certainly a bold move by McSheffrey but 2 rookies in the back 4, a midfield 3 including Hasani & Smith and Barlow supporting Cukur really doesn’t inspire me with any confidence. Hopefully the players getting a chance have done something to suggest they’re worth it in training and it turns out to be a master stroke.

Looking at that first 11 plus bench how any right minded supporter can think we will get a result tonight is beyond me injuries have devastated the squad.

He has had to rest Dodoo and Hiwula even though people think they are rubbish at least we can see what they will do from the bench if required. Let’s see what Bogle can do if required.

Two hours later and we're all leaving the Keepmoat with grins on our faces after we've beaten Oxford 3-0.

Excuse me whilst I pull up my soap box but I think thats irrelevant. I was fortunate and unfortunate enough to be a teenager on the Pop in the mid/late 90's so you can imagine I saw it all from Colin Cramb, Paul Birch and (dare I say it) Darren Moore to David Smith, Paul Conlon and the Esdailles.

In all events the players came out to a rousing "Doncaster, Doncaster, Doncaster" chant and then we ran through a 1-11 chant for each player. Occasionally we'd give a bit of grief to the opposition fans and some light hearted chat with an opponent like Dean Saunders or Phil Stant. Whilst the future was bleak the support was unwavering and the humour was gallows.

This "banter" age of going after opposition players, opposition fans and amazingly our own players and academy players just leaves me indifferent tbh. I don't advocate blind support of all we do and all the players on here but I just sense some fans are rocking up these days and are licking their lips at the prospect of sticking a proverbial knife into someone.

Open end to end game, probably from a lack of quality more than anything but at least its entertaining, and at least there's a bit of fight from Rovers tonight.

No doubt showed some fight but think we need to be realistic, the players we have are nowhere near league 1 standard. Only player out there tonight that meets that criteria is Rowe. The rest are league two players

We need Wigan to beat shrews tomorrow and then we have to win that game on sat. We’ve an extra days recovery. Lose that and it’s likely to be 9 points to safety.
Title: Re: Donny v Oxford
Post by: SydneyRover on December 07, 2021, 09:52:30 pm
Looking from the perspective of what the Rovers have been through to this point that was a good effort and an entertaining second half, the first half they showed signs that they were not going to send up the white flag and the second half Oxford spent most of the time inspecting the turf.

The goal diff makes it 7. Can you honestly see this side getting 37 points from 26 games? 1.5 pts per game?  Current points tally puts us at 0.65 pts per game.
Quite literally rovers have to get over twice the points per game from here on in that they have managed so far. That does not sound like much, but it is.

He made a save in the first half where he parried it down. It went back between his legs and hit his near post before he dropped on it.

oh right not sure wot else he could of done apart from head or punch it out,was never gonna stay in his his area and wasn’t denying a goal scoring opportunity so yellow was correct

1st half - dogshit

2nd half - much better. Played further up the pitch and caused them problems. Exquisite from Bogle for our goal. Killed it dead & ghosted past their man like he wasn't there before finding Brandon.

We're still in this league. Let's back the boys.

Hasani not a league player Knoyle not a right sided defender but needs must we’ve got no more players
Lirak is not a league right back or a right wing back, he needs to play in midfield for us to see the best of him.
