My Local Scream Success
Junior Rovers fans were treated to a fantastic Halloween ‘spook-tacular’ during, and after, Saturday’s game against Colchester United.
The young supporters – dressed up in full scary costumes – partook in a half time parade lead by the ghostly Donny Dog before a mass ‘Thriller’ dance on the Keepmoat Stadium turf.
Following the match – and Rovers’ 2-0 win over the U’s – the youngsters gathered in the Family Stand and were told scary ghost stories before meeting their heroes, the Doncaster Rovers first team squad, in the ‘revamped’ Belle Vue Bar.
Everyone then enjoyed an eerie walk around the pitch black Keepmoat Stadium before returning for a fun party disco including games and apple bobbing and pumpkin carving.
Marketing and Communications Manager Ryan Murrant said: “I can’t thank the efforts of all those involved enough. There was a terrific amount of planning that went in to making it such an enjoyable evening and the feedback from the young fans was fantastic.
“Credit must also go to Alan Roberts and the whole of the Viking Supporters Co-operative (VSC) for the hours they put in to making it as scary as possible for everyone to savour.
"I'd also like to thank the local businesses, football clubs, friends of the football club and the Club Doncaster Foundation for helping push the game.
“The players were there to celebrate the win as well which made the whole day really special.”
