Who wants a letter?
« on September 05, 2010, 08:04:45 am by CusworthRovers »
Are you the unlucky 1.4 million or one of the lucky 4.3 million? 6 millions workers will be effected.

Yes, it seems they have cocked up on the old tax PAYE returns. They have stated with the state of the economy and the lack of funds that they will chase every penny for those that will owe.

Government is struggling to administer/run the tax system due to the modern day working patterns ie migration of folks moving from one job to another (that's the state we live in Mr MP to make ends meet).

Anyway between now and Xmas (niiiice), you may be one of those getting a letter.

Actually, you have a much bigger chance of not getting a letter either way.  Personally, I cant bring myself to worry about \"what if..\" scenarios.

I find it totally despicable that they can f**k things up so badly and then when it comes to light sting these poor people with reportedly an extra hundred a month on their tax bill. One can only hope the unlucky ones are paid enough to be able to cope with this amount being figuratively pilfered from their wages..Because I'm sorry but well they (as in the tax payer) spent money they shouldn't have had doesn't wash wth me. You put your faith in the tax office because you have to, and this is akin to being cheated, and then pissed on in my opinion.

It is interesting how it was reported by the press, as RTR almost everybody is not affected at all by the small errors, of the ones where there is a mistake then 3 times as many people are going to be winners rather than losers.....the story is? \"They made mistakes and we are going to have to pay more tax\". Hype by journos.

And a tax seystem, designed, sensibly at the time, to work via employer pay offices can't cope with work life that involves rapid changes in employers. That's the cause of the problem. It might be a pain in the ass to those affected, and it should have been fixed before, but has anyone ever stopped to think just how fiendishly complicated any tax system at all is to design and then to computerise without any problems occurring? I suspect it's like the benefits system (of which I have significant current experience on behalf of someone else): employ monkeys to save money and guess what you get? Idiots! One of the gravest disservices Mrs Thatchere ever did for this country was to make it politically impossible to charge a sensible rate of income tax. I spent most of last week with Alexander in the local hospital. I had to keep nipping out to feed thousands of coins into the f**king parking meters. It wasn't cheap. I resent that. But the hospital has to do it 'cos they can't pay their bills otherwise. I'd willingly pay more tax if we had a sensible approach to what is chargeable and what is not. Stupid woman.

.......and create CSA and a system that even the staff never understand, and make it impossible to contact the CSA (but that's another topic)

out here i paid 36 per cent tax from my wages.

for that if you go on the sick you will get full pay for a year, your lass will get full pay for a year if she has a baby.

i will get 6weeks full pay dads leave

lost my job in january and i get dole money for two years at 62 per cent of my monthly wage twice a month,i sign on via the computor.

i will also get a full years  holiday pay in january which is 9.5 per cent
of your monthly income from the dole office.

basically you loose yer job out here and you can get by with still paying the morgage on yer house for two years at least.
