Sean O'Driscoll Double Bill
« on December 24, 2010, 09:45:17 pm by VivaRovers »
As its Christmas Eve, time for a bit of blatant self promotion. There is something of a Sean O'Driscoll double bill on the Viva Rovers site at present.

One article reflecting on the past ten days and the speculation regarding Sheffield United's courting of O'Driscoll

And another piece in response to the piece of b****cks churned out by Jason Mellor earlier this week.

Merry Christmas everyone

Great stuff Glen, a whizz with a pen, or keyboard in your hand as usual.

Excellent article Glenn, as usual. Typical FLJ stuff from yer man.

To listen to the jungle drums, you'd believ that O'Driscoll is being offered a place at a truly big-hitter.

So, go on. Have a guess what Sheff Utd's average League finishing position is over the last 30 years.

10th in the Top Tier?

No.

Near the bottom of the Top Tier?

No.

Surely, top of Tier 2?

No

It's actually 12th in Tier 2. In other words, they are pretty much at their long-term average position. In 40 years, they have had just a handful of seasons in the top flight. They have spent as many in Tier 3 and 4.

And think on. They are hamstrung by debt, having pissed away their parachute payments on £25k a week wages on the likes of Sun Ji Hai. And presumably something similar on journeymen like Ched Evans and Darius Henderson. Turning them ropund would be like trying to turn a steamroller round with a feather. They are a historically hum-drum side, with a serious amount of negative momentum.

How in the name of God's cock are they an attractive proposition for an able and ambitious manager?

very much a thoughtful and erudite exposition of the recent few days

and completely out of keeping with the conspiracy theorists on this board

looking forward to seeing sean in the rovers dugout for years to come

Merry xmas to you Glen and everyone of the other posters on this site.

Great articles and great reads throught the year. Keep them coming.

As for Journalists and the media in general, the only good news has only ever been bad news, and if you cant prove it then speculate.

Radio Sheffield (And it's presenters) has proved over the past 2 weeks what a biased set they are.

I listened 4 or 5 times to SOD's interview with radio dee dah, and at the end Andy Giddings (I think) said

\"there you have it then Sean O'Driscol said \"I am not part of the process of Sheffield United appointing a manager at this time\"

Sorry folks but unless I missed it no where in that interview did I hear SOD say \"at this time\"Regards

I agree- I thought they were two excellent articles and make a nice counterbalance to some of the rubbish that's appeared in the media of late. Great work, Glen.

I happened to have a look at Bladesmad this morning. Now I know we get on about Leeds but at least they've won things in living memory. As BST pointed out, the Blunts are at best a middling Championship side, yet reading some of the stuff on there you'd think they had the history, heritage and fan-base of a Liverpool or an Arsenal! I used to have quite a soft spot for them, but now their arrogance- and the way their board have conducted their business via the media- has convinced me otherwise. Let's hope we give them (another) football lesson at the Lane on Monday week!

Blunts are not even biggest club in Sheffield. Just let them fester in their little pot.
