I used to measure the effectiveness of any concert by just how long my ears buzzed for afterwards. The record was 2 days and a bit. But then, I always did like a bit of head banging stood right in front of the speakers...
Oh, and it was The Boomtown Rats - if you're interested. Judie Tzuke was pretty loud too.

Oh, that happens still! Front row at New Order at Wolverhampton Civic Hall three or four years ago did my hearing in for two days, and I've been to other concerts in the recent past that had a similar effect. I think the worst was about three days for it to come back properly.
