The Great season ticket holders vote

How to truly find out how the sth's feel about the offers, lets have a vote then the club will know how we feel one way or another.

Good Idea! although all season ticket holders don't go on here, so would not be a fair outcome.

Totally agree ...more deals for the hard working donny public please ....Says a ST holder for 10 plus years!

Think its time people realised the bigger picture and what this great club is doing in the communities to get people supporting their local side.

Massive thumbs up for this!

I am a season ticket holder & have been for many years.

Season Tickets are still the best offer the club can give. Over the season the benefits far outweigh any additional ad hoc promotions devised by the club.

I have no problem whatsoever with promotions to help swell the home crowd. If some of those who come on the local promotion days decide to become season ticket holders then in turn that may bring down the cost of future season tickets plus help with buying better players.

good idea but it really is pointless as i dont think people are being honest so the vote shouldnt hold much weight
i think the only vote will count is how many buy season tickets next season

i think you will find it will be down considerably on last year and it would have been down alot further if people were not getting half price season tickets buy using the club scout thing ie buy a kids season ticket at £40 then buy a adult one through the club scout thing and get half the season ticket price back and getting 2 seats in the process

I've been a ST holder for 5 years and in the last year started supporting the Rovers Alliance and it doesn't bother me about the cheap or free tickets. I feel proud that I'm doing my bit to support the club. A £15 seat sold is better than no seat sold. And hopefully the club will gain a few more followers from the free tickets. :scarf:

I have been a STH for many years and I have bought next years through the earlybird promotion and I echo Adge and Norfolk N Chances posts. I have listened to loads of moaners amongst the supporters as well as on the forum. :rtid:

Speaking as a season ticket holder for many years, i`ve got to admit the offers given out this season to the pay on the day fans have been that good that i`m going to give them a try myself next season. My other options were to either get next seasons ticket five months in advance or to now pay £420 for a season ticket in the south east corner that cost me £270 last season.

I got this years ST with a 10% discount because I'm a Rovers Alliance supporter and they extended the Early Bird price. I also get several Free sets of tickets that friends get. So I feel I get a good deal. Everyone has to decide what's best for them. Shouldn't critize others choices or the club trying to get more support.:chair:

Evening All.

I have taken advantage of various offers for the past few years. Most recently last season when I got quite a few free tickets through a Coca Cola promotion.

I came on Friday to the free game and brought my 6 year old son.  He had been to one game before last season, 3-3 v Ipswich and was too young..

I waited to give him another go at the Keepmoat and he loved it.  Today, I went to the ticket office and bought me and the lad Season Tickets for next season in the West Stand.  Sure promotions come and go but nothing compares to having your seat for the season.

So to all the people complaining, the promotions done by the club can lead to future Season Tickets being sold.. £520 out of my account proved that today.

Difficult one that. The smarmy twins have actually disagreed with each other on this one so am not sure.

So, the big question is, how many that will be getting their cash back in this latest promotion will come back again and again and if even a third go on to then buy a season ticket, then surely speculating to accumulate is good business sense?

As marmite man says, he is now the owner of a spanking bright new season ticket.. Hopefully he wont be the only one either.. :)

My opinion as a STH is that last weeks free ticket promotion was a great idea. I have no problem with the club trying as many promotions as they can during the season, after all, it just comes down to a 'Try before you buy' scenario. I wouldn't buy a 500-00 quid tele for instance, without seeing how it performs.

I know other STH's have their own opinions on the matter, and are quite right to air their grievances on here.
As Donnylass says, each of us has to decide what's best for us. For me, I'm OK with any incentive the club tries, to try to get more people in.

If I had to scrimp and save for my ST, I can honestly say my opinions would remain the same. I would eventually get my ST, and I'm sure it's easier for me than a lot of supporters, as I only have myself to buy for.

My view is that the various offers this season have been good for the club as a whole and similarly to what someone wrote earlier I'd rather be surrounded by people who'd paid £10, £15 or nothing than be empty seats.
That said I do think the club could look at a way to give a little incentive/reward to STH's, one of my favourites being a Derby idea, where they give a free ticket to a friendly game, and a freebie to a league cup home game.

Thanks for sharing that, Marmite.  I doubt even the sternest critic of the free ticket giveaway will fail to see that the venture has positive outcomes.  You might be the first to have nailed your colours to the mast and come forward, but I dont think you will be the last....

I renewed two oap season tickets before the deadline and will be geeting two 12-16 season tickets on Saturday so I will have got as many as last season.I couldn't afford four at once and as I'm replacing one of the juniors I'll be able to claim a bit back. I'm glad that the club are being pro active, if we have a good season next year maybe we won't need as many offers for people to come. I just want the best for the club.:scarf:

I`m a STH and back the incentives being offered, however, I can see the bigger picture and for every one like Marmite Man that has signed up for a season ticket how many will not renew? it`s great that new STH`s are being found but if the same number don`t renew then the whole incentive initiatives will have been a failure!

Next season will be my 8th as a season ticket holder, don't mind the freebies and the promotions, anything that can fill the ground and help the crowd increase is good for me, the only thing as a season ticket holder i am slightly mift at is the early deadline, i feel if it was moved to the end of April or even May more people would have bought season tickets and helped out those who are debating whether to get one during these difficult financial times.

I have had a season ticket as has my wife for many years. because we live in Scarborough now I miss lots of home matches in midweek. Money is short and petrol is now very expensive - BUT I am happy for JR and the board to give out offers and freebies from time to time if it helps fill the ground and encourage future fans. also Happy 61st birthday JR:;)

Do you know Wellred, I never posted it but I also found that Marmite post a tad intriguing.

The one reason was what you have alluded too, I also thought the timing of the post was impeccable (or too impeccable) with all the wrath/debate on here re ST's, Freebies, Loyalties etc etc, and the 'we hope to get new ST holders out of the promotions' (something I believe is just anyway) and then bushta, in comes this fella/fella mi lass.

Also for such a new poster, he/she is straight into the winky icon thing and knows where/how/when to use.

I know you think I'm one of the happy clappers but there's a slice of me that's suspecting another happy clapper posting that under an alias.

If I'm wrong, then apologies Marmite Man, and top banana to you.

One truth is I have recruited an adult and his 3 kids of varying ages. They have always turned up on the promotions/freebies (as well as paying for games) and got hooked from that. That's not a wind up, that's actually happened.

It is a really interesting thread this! I DON'T have a season ticket and haven't had since our first full season at the KM - no sleight on the Stadium or DRFC but due to a higher profile job and increasingly time consuming duties at Doncaster Little Theatre I haven't been able to guarantee the initial outlay being worth my while in the respect of games I'd have been able to attend!

However, as it happens, I have been lucky enough this season to have missed only one game at home this season, and have been to at least 10 away - including long rips to Cardiff and Reading amongst others with Mrs4475 and her two kids, Mrs4475 has accompanied me on all occasions, her lad has a season ticket with his grandad and the younger one has been to most games too! Quite an outlay of finance on my behalf to be fair - but I don't care, DRFC are my team and despite not having a season ticket every effort is made to get to all games and bring many with me! I'm a VSC member, Alliance Member, Play the Rovers Lottery, buy a programme, get half time draw tickets, drink several beers and eat the odd pie at the KM at every game! This again is no skin off of my nose as all of this is helpful to my team - I've taken the offers obviously as every other non-STH would. Anyhow this ain't really my point!

My point is that for all the freebies given out for the Palace game and the uproar metted out after all the other offers this season, have you seen all the Red and White hoops knocking about around this fair town now? How many red and white hooped shirts were bought at the Palace game? How many extra pints, pies, programs, burgers, furry car dice, temporary tattoos etc made their way to newbies!  You can bet your last kid-a-quid that despite the free tickets for that game, a roaring trade was done in the shop so maybe we didn't lose that much cash after all!

Well done DRFC for all the offers, hopefully, we'll have picked up a few more new fans over the course of this year as a direct result of the offers the club have managed to sort!:rtid:

Sorry 4475 if you mentioned this but someone bought two STs off the back of the Palace game. And who knows how many others have who just haven't posted about it on here? £40 (and £80 for 12-16) isn't bad at all, and really will help attract the next generation of fans.

There's a similar debate being held here:

http://www.bearsfans.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=2190

Me, I bought a six-year membership at Egbaston for £750. The price of an annual membership is £150 and is sure to go up next year. Maybe Rovers should be offering something similar for those who can afford it and are in for the long haul.
