Reasons to be optimistic
« on August 15, 2011, 12:16:29 pm by godlike1 »
Have to say that following our 2nd half performance against West Ham where I think we deserved at least a point out of the game.  Along with some of the comments that have come from JR at the VSC's meeting about the club trying to buy the stadium and the fans clubbing together for the loan appeal by either donating money or buying a lottery ticket from the club has shown me that we are still trying to pull together in one direction despite all the adversity that is thrown at our fantastic team and the fans during this hard recession.

I think that all of the above in itself is proof that the future is bright and that we need to continue to believe that we will continue to be successful even when things are not going well e.g. our horrendous injury list still.

Its also really good to see intelligent debates by fans on here about how difficult things are for the club and JR to get things right to balance the books and prevent the club getting into a rediculous amount of debt but keep competitive as well

I have to say that I have been mightley impressed to see an advert on a bus from rovers advertising the games against West Ham, Forest and Bristol (I never thought I would live to see that ever happen) It looked professional and will be a constant reminder to any armchair/fair weather fans that we are still there and if we get some results we deserve then these fans will be more interrested when they see who we are playing.

The idea that JR will give the fans to choose what is supplied by the club on a food and drink basis also fills me with great excitment and means I'd be more than happy to pay say £2.00 a pint for something from a local brewery for a bitter if possible and £2.50 a bottle of lager.  If the food came from the market's traders so we had good quality burgers/pies/sausages for say anything from £1.50 - £2.50 I could see them selling out on a regular basis.

On the playing front we are up against it, esp when Forest have just splashed out £1m+ on a new striker but the spirit the lads showed in the 2nd half proved that they know they are good enough to mix it up in this leauge and need to make sure we get of to a good start against Forest without conceding any early/soft goals and I think we will stand a good chance to get our 1st win of the season

A happy cheerful message I know but we need to make sure we dont get down about the start to the season with so long left to go and the quality of depth that SOD has brought in despite the injury crisis we are suffering from

The futures bright the futures Red and White :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :woot: :woot: :scarf: :scarf:  :clapping: :clapping:

Well said!

This bit about the advertising, I personally haven't seen it, but its a good way to get the ball rolling! I work for Doncaster College, and I cant help but think, why dont DRFC work with DC's media team! DRFC and DC have a very close working relationship I am lead to believe, for example, it was rumoured DC offerd to help Rachid Bouhenna with his English. Also, the college have a Rovers football related course, which helps students learn phsically and theoretically about the sport etc. surely something can be done?
