James Beattie released by Rangers!

Now there`s a quality striker and a free agent, so not tied by the transfer window, wages might be an issue though but I reckon he could do us a job

I bet he would want ridiculous wages because he played for England once

My only two concerns would be his wages and the fact that the last time I saw him he seemed to have a little more weight on him than necessary. Otherwise, sure, he was quality at this level for Sheffield United a couple of seasons ago and could fit in our set-up. Not that I think anybody will be signing soon or that we overly need a striker providing Sharp returns in the not too distant future and Hayter and Lalkovic stay fit.

Unless he's willing to drop his wage demands to a fiver a week with a meat pie goal bonus, he's not coming.

To be fair, the fat lad would probably stick a few in just to take advantage of the meat pie bonus.

When you speak to the Blades fans, they often cite Beattie to be one of the main factors in their financial decline.....what was it 40k a week plus a hefty win/goal bonus.

On a more realistic scale I note, Beevers has been allowed out on loan from SWFC to MK Dons. Probably had more admirers than Rock on Tommy (everybody likes Beevers) and was suggested at the time the next big thing. Seems to have lost his way and just fanny'd around for the last season. Another we could possibly reverse their fortunes and cause an upturn in his career. Could be a snatch in the January market.

James Beattie would be an even worse choice than David Healy was!

I was thinking the same about Mark Beevers! But, our defence is looking pretty solid!

Looks like we signed that Eddie Nolan as well!

 More than can be said of some of our players. I didn't think Healy did too badly.

The club hasn't got any money....

Rich directors, but the club is financially a dead duck. Beattie and his ilk are a long way down the road from Rovers.

Id say that was the Blades' crazy directors who signed that off more than beatties fault.

I work with a Blackpool fan who didnt rate him.

Also saw Leon Clarke is allowed to leave Swindon, not that i think he is amazing or anything but more a cheap option who SOD could do something with.

Leon Clarke isnt fit to lace any of our current or past strikers boots, and yes I include Carl Alford and Prince Moncrieffe in that assessment.

A useless, petulent, has-been, was-never-gonna-be.

So, on balance, its a \"no\" from me.
