I empathise with your sentiment Norfolk, I have enjoyed all seasons since we reached this rarified atmosphere, and some of the football we have seen has been stunning, but I wouldn't say we shop at ALDI. In that case it's the perfect analogy. We're picking up decent players who might not be flavour of the month and talked about but have quality and are cheaper.

If you are going use shops as a comparison, then at least use the outlet shop....Nothing wrong with Aldi at all, but I think our lads are far from bargain bucket.

Actually I see nothing clever in these teams squandering so much cash on a pair of legs, the reason football in general is held in mild contempt by so many is because of the obscene ammounts chucked at it. I'm more proud of the fact that we don't have that cash and are still in the same league as the bigger spenders. All it says to me is how lovely that you can buy your way to the top. No attractive at all imho.

Different story more recently at West Brom though, if the Baggies fan posting on here after we signed Barnes is anything to go by.

Maybe GB started out shopping at Waitrose, got caught robbing trolleys and selling them back to the shop like Bubbles in Trailer Park Boys, ended up with food stamps at the Fairway in Denaby, and is now buying his Chilean cab sav and hair products at Morrisons in Bramley.

A tad harsh on Beckford ,Barmby ,To say he scored 8 in 34 appearances of which 19 were as sub ain't that bad for someone in their first season at Premiership level.

Regarding Beckford. According to talkSport, moving to Leicester earned himself a £15k a week pay rise. And he was on £25k at Everton.

I pay to watch Doncaster not Leicester or another big spending team and if I'm honest i couldn't give a flying f**k about anybody else,if this is the case and we are being priced out of this league then it's about time we spent some money or should we just roll over and die?

If your charging championship prices then you want to see championship players or i do anyway.

Some valid points here. I agree with the OP, we choose to follow a team because we love them, not because they have the fattest cheque book and in our case this means feeling a bit hard done to sometimes as Rovers can't seem to make the same investment that the bigger clubs can.

Having said that, we are paying Championship prices to watch the games and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect some movement in and out of the club during transfer time.

You'd have to be incredibly naive or blinkered not to wonder how long DRFC can continue to operate at this level when you look at the amounts the bigger clubs are spending.

The point is though the players that you want have to
(a) be a available and affordable
(b) want to come here.
 On the other hand players that you want to leave have to
(a) be willing to leave for possibly lower wages
(b) be subject to an acceptable offer if a fee is involved.

There is no point in bringing players in that don't improve our squad.
I would have liked one or two players to come in but the loan market ids still an option if needed.

Shopping at Aldi does not mean lack of quality but does mean you can be selective and buy quality without the fancy label. Why pay M&S price just to have the St Michael label? It doesn't mean the product is any better!  

SOD knows the products and gets quality and potential without fancy tags!
