This is not meant to wind up benaldo.

I thought he was outstanding last night. He won all the headers from their corners, covered and stopped runs by their forwards and made two or three great long balls out to Bennett. He also helped out Gorgeous George, who didn't have the best of games.

I think you are getting carried away. He was ok but certainly not outstanding. He gave the ball away a couple of times in our own half that could have been punished but he got away with it.

Hird was class last night, made the goal with a great 40 yard pass. Looked lot better than friend, who spent most of the evening on his backside.  His best performance in a rovers shirt in my opinion.

Best player on the pitch always has been good, that is our best pair at centre half. He is better than Martis and Naylor by a mile.

According to Russ Wilcox on Radio Sheffield commentary, he also thought Hird was outstanding

Sam Heard without question man of the match. Friend had an offday. Illunga had another good game. Chimbonda oused class. That's it a settled back 4. Let's stick to it.
Also very pleased with Chimbonda's attitude to playing for us and to the fans.

Hird was good last night, Friend did have an off day no doubt.  Thought overall most of them were good.

Steve Tossack has Hird with 6 points and Gillett with 7.

I wonder who gave him the report..................pillock.

 Benaldo's probably not commenting due to him being busy cutting at the thought of Hird doing well.

Have to say, put in a lot of work last night - top performance.

The MOM results might just have him self-harming, before going on a killing rampage through the streets of Donny tonight.

... Looking forward to his eventual post though!!

I think Sam has had a rough deal over the last couple of seasons. He arguably was the best partner for Matt Mills and that culminated in the Wembley performance. Since then, he's had to give way to others coming in and through no fault of his own found himself down the pecking order, only to be called upon though injury.

Last season I think we saw some performances reflective of a man who was pissed off though not getting a fair crack. I fully expected him to leave. Early season, he played at full back, quite effectively, but once again he was bummed off when so called 'first choices' got fit.

We know he possesses the guile to anticipate and snuff out danger, he's got pace, and he's a good blocker/tackler. His physical stature perhaps works against him and on occasion his passing could be better. (we could say that about many of our defenders though).

I hope we stick with him on Saturday.

My my,

how I skipped around the village this morning when I found out how well Hird apparently played last night.

I've gone and got myself a \"Sam isn't Spam\" tattoo and plan to dedicate the rest of the good deeds in my life to him and his glorious footballing career.

I hope this goes some way to apologising for doubting him all these years. I fully expect him to never ever have a howler again while in a Rovers shirt, nor to give the ball away 1342652 times a match, nor score an own goal, nor have no idea where he is on the pitch for 98% of the game (2% of it h'es walking off or on the pitch).

Yes folks, Sam Hird is the new Franco Baresi. You heard it here first.

Been saying for the past few seasons that given games Sam Hird would turn into a quality centre back, Yes he gives the ball away at times and prone to a few mistakes but who isn't? Stocky cost us the goal tue night, is everyone slagging him off over it, I dont think so.
benaldo, how sad it must be to be you. Whats up didn't your mummy breast feed you as a teen? why you always so synical????
