By providing this forum we are able to give Doncaster Rovers fans a voice to not only debate amongst ourselves but to also allow members and DRFC fans to get their views across to the VSC so that we can get them across to the Club, so it therefore does not conflict the interest of our goals.

Also this forum has 2 independent moderators that do not sit on the VSC Board, and they contribute to the actions that are made to make sure there is an unbiased and level-headed approach to moderation.

That maybe the aim, but any critic/standoff of the VSC as an idea or organisation will only have been pushed further away by the recent \"Frosty\" incident.  As this very thread proves every little thing that now happens on here is thrown back and magnified.  I may not be convinced by the VSC as an organisation but this forum is nowhere near as \"stifling\" as other forums were and in my honest opinion is painting the VSC in a bad light.

I'm bloody livid.

I got a PM this morning from that MILF with the short skirts off Breakfast Time offering to fulfill my every carnal wish on the site of the old Portaloo at OBV. And she offered to wear my 20 year old Free Press Rovers shirt-the one that looked like a packet of Buitoni pasta -  while doing it. It'd be just nicely tight for her in all the right places if you catch my drift.

Any road. I've just checked my inbox to make a note if her number and the message has vanished. Which one of you bas**rds has pilfered it?

Hahaha!  We really need a \"like\" button on here!

Sorry for your loss BST but I might have a cracking consolation for you. If you look in Off Topic there's this randy lass in Norfolk who sounds like she could do with someone popping round to give her a sensual massage...

Sensual massage? No chance.. at the moment a trip to the vet for a one way only injection would be more welcome.. :saywhat: :suicide:

Yeah, people are criticising the mods/admin, in a lot of cases it's deserved. From where we are sitting, when threads get moved how do you think it looks? You forget that we don't see the private messages that go on behind the scenes. We won't see if there are any discussions into banning members etc... So when something happens out of the blue, members will criticise. A lot of the time, when someone criticises you (the mods in general), you tell them it's not up for discussion, which only makes it worse.

Our members have a right to ask questions and if justified they can offer criticism. But, as in your case, its not the members criticising.

As secretary of the VSC I'm the one who is held accountable when things 'get legal', nobody else, and if I choose to close off a thread started by somebody who was facing a ban then I will do so. I was, and will, act in the best interests of the VSC and its members.

It's just a thought but maybe seeing as the VSC is so concerned with the legal side of things and the image of the VSC has to be so vigorously protected, maybe they VSC might consider whether being in control of a long-standing forum is perhaps a conflict of interest to the goals of the VSC and the club.

I'm not trying to pick an argument with you SM as I do agree with much of what you're saying, but you do seem to be able to have akward/difficult/antagonistic questions levelled at you without throwing a hissy fit!

Rios,

I agree to a point. We have to be careful that the forum is seen to be a separate entity to the VSC. Points raised and made on here are open to interpretation and the failing is that others may see these as official statements, when they are clearly not the case. Hopefully the new site will make this clearer to all. One of the major failings we have is that the point of the VSC and the work that it does is lost, and that for a lot of individuals the VSC is 'just a forum' which again is a disadvantage. The resolve of that is not closing down the forum though, but ensuring that the good work it does is more obvious. I doubt that its our concern for our reputation which is to be rigorously maintained that drives what we do, in fact I doubt if that has ever been raised at any meeting or discussion between the VSC Directors so I fail to see that point. We do have to be concerned for the legality of our operation though, failure to meet the FSA guidelines and regulation would result in a prison sentence in a worst case scenario. The practical difficulties of a forum such as this is if the club takes umbrage to its content, its how you handle that that matters. Barnsley currently have that problem, but they have a different approach than us and their way doesn't work

Hissy fit? Hmm. I would agree to annoyance and frustration though, and it clearly shows in some of my posts. I've been involved in Supporters rights and improving our lot within football and football clubs for years, but I don't think its feasible to go into too much detail either. My main frustration is people expressing their opinion without the slightest knowledge of the subject they are discussing that angers me the most, or even people who just criticise because they want to. No thought given to the effort that goes into some of these things, the miles travelled, the weekends and evenings given up, meeting after meeting. For instance, this weeks plan has been this, tonight was spent discussing the problems at Leeds between the club officials and the Trust, tomorrow I'll be at Forest to watch the Rovers. Wednesday evening I'm hosting a meeting at York City to speak with their trust about a campaign for Safe Standing at their new ground and on Thursday I'm meeting with officials at Spurs on the use of head cams by their stewards. No doubt I'll attract criticism from some quarters for  that too!

I don't mind answering questions from anybody Rios, I do what I can for football fans, too much as my wife and family keep telling me, but only if they are genuine questions. Somebody asks me for some help I usually respond positively.

Closing the forum down isn't necessary.  It was something else before the VSC took it on, it would be something else afterwards too.  I just get the feeling that a forum such as this is casting the VSC in a bad light, especially as you say that the VSC as an entity is now seen as just the forum.

The \"Hissy Fit\" wasn't aimed at you SM, you do seem to take an awful lot of poking with a stick before your annoyance comes through.  The head cams thing can only be a good thing, especially if it stops the likes of the incident at Norwich last season.  Grounds are blanket covered with CCTV anyway, so anyone wanting privacy or rights has already given those up years ago at football grounds.
