Spurred on!!!

Tommy Spurr has beem excellent since his come-back, timely headers, great tackler and can do delap throws that are more affective than Dioufs free kicks and corners.
Spurr on the warrior.:boxing:

Rock on Tommy!!!!

Why did Wednesdays let him go?

A good player.
vicious curling cross (under-used imo)
can run at defenders (under-used but maybe for obvious reasons at this time of the season)
Rock solid in the tackle
Rock solid in the header
Never seen him shirk a tackle or header
Born winner
Good with the crowd
Stuart Pearce (mark 2)

....I don't think he'd look out of place at CH if he was called upon, but our left back for some years to come hopefully

He couldn't get in the team at Wednesday, fell out with one of their many recent mangers or summat. Anyone remember when we first signed him and people were saying he was a waste of money and not as good as Roberts? We shall see on Saturday.

He was brilliant last night and has been since his welcome return to the team. Ilunga shouldn't get near the left back slot whilst Tommy stays fit. Won every single header that came his way, went into every tackle with verve and got forward and supported the attack very well. All that and it looked like he dislocated his finger near the end. My favourite Spurr moment from last night was when he won a 50/50 in the middle of the park on either Leightwood or McAnuff, absolutely crunching it was and exactly what we need at the moment.

He's fast becoming my favourite player, funny how football works really when you think last season you have a player like Spurr stuck with 3rd Division Wednesday and a player like a Illunga earning 28 grand a week in the premiership, makes no sense! :S
