I'd rather they did if it stops illegal activity I'm all for it.  If you've nothing to hide you've nothing to fear.  I'm not sure anyone really cares about the stuff that's in my e-mails at all.

No it wouldn't.  Software recognition is now complex enough to distinguish what context things are said in.

It's a slippery slope from here.  I used to have on an old Yahoo email account a signature that said \"1984 is reality... it's just running a little late\".  Saying if you've done nothing wrong is also missing the point and I'd suggest reading (or watching) 1984 to see what the measures mentioned above can be used for when take to their logical extreme.  And if you think it's far fetched, can you imagine the outrage people in the 50's/60's would have had if you'd told them they'd be caught on CCTV over 300 times a day just going about their normal lives.
