Any Petrol

The Missus has just reported that Asda has no fuel (well Diesel at least) and the one by B&Q is shut.

She also says there is no Diesel at Morrisons or the Murco up where the Tally-Ho used to be. Looks like she isn't going to Bradford this morning.

Anyone want to post if their local has fuel ?

What a fcuking shambles eh?

There is no prospect of any strike for at least a week. But we've had a succession of bell ends from the Govt telling us all to fill up, hoard jerry cans, stock up on cans of tomato soup, take the kitchen door off the hinges, prop it up against the wall to make a shelter and paint ourselves white to reflect the blast. (If you're under 35, ask your dad.)

So with a (non existent) threat of maybe running out of petrol sometime after Easter, the whole country goes doo lally and spends all week queueing up fit whatever drops are left, and paying through the nose for it as garages put the price up.

Are there any grown ups out there?

Amazingly she's come all the way home (Cantley) only to find the local by the Paddock has Diesel, so she's filled up. Would you believe it !

Mind you, those robbing gits have made her pay top whack for it. Last week their Unleaded was £141.9 BEFORE the budget

She says there was a report on the Radio yesterday saying as it's almost year end, it's a good excuse for the companies to cause a panic, shove the prices up and make a mint to make their books look better.....

Also £32M extra tax into the coffers just before year end. They didn't mention they were introducing a new Stupidity Tax during the budget?

Pathetic! this week has confirmed the majority of the public are numpties! there`s no strike at the moment, UNITE have to give at least 7 days notice of a strike, talks are not due to start while Monday, so the earliest possible strike would be a week on Monday, by that time all these single cell beings will have run out of petrol by then!

Well, I need to fill up anyway, so I'm going to have to find somewhere. I've got about 70 miles left in the tank and a 200 mile round trip to get to and from Rovers tonight. If I can't find any, I won't make the match.

Store it in your home - great idea!

The Government minister that started the panic should shoulder some responsibility for that, but the woman must be lacking common sense, who in the right mind pours petrol in the vicinity of a cooker whilst it`s turned on? The mind boggles!

Been and filled up (unleaded) at Asda about 12 noon.

It always amazes me how people seem unable to grasp the concept that pump hoses WILL stretch to the other side of your car if a pump on your petrol cap side is unavaiable

Down in Solihull we had no problems until yesterday when all of a sudden the forecourts were full. My local garage has run out twice in the course of the last 24 hours and the other nearby one was chocker (with people queueing on the road- and blocking it!) when I drove past this lunchtime. As it happens I've got enough fuel to do Donny and back tonight.

One factor that the media don't seem to have twigged is that the start of the Easter holidays is not next Friday- it is this one, as most of the schools break up today. So demand for petrol was probably going to be higher than usual even without \"panic buying.\"

Yep people are stupid. The thing that winds me up the most are those who \"top up\" their tanks but hardly ever use the car.

I can remember the last time this happened (Sept 2000) and the old boy in front of me had put in £6.58p worth of unleaded.

Even ten years ago £6.58 would not fill a petrol tank.

Its because of d**kheads like this that the people who genuinely need it suffer.

I use about 3 tanks of diesel a week for work, I heard some stupidcow on on the radio say she had to fill up as she was worried about getting her kids to school :pinch:  I saw another t**t putting so much in his tank then transfering the nozzle to a plastic orange juice bottle the frigging thing was melting quicker than the arsehole could fill it up, the staff only realised when another customer told them and they quickly turned the pump off, it really beggers belief that there is so many morons out there

I think its all back to normal now, John.

I blame the media for fanning the flames too.  I was driving to Barnsley last Friday morning, and Radio Sheffield were reporting that Morrisons had a queue coming back onto Westway and was blocking the dual carriageway - right where I had to be.  10 minutes later, expecting the worst, I sailed through with no sign of a queue.  FLJs, eh?  Who'd have thought it.

Cheers for that.

Agree re the \"Traffic News\" etc given by local radio. Quite often they are still reporting incidents / queues etc when they have long been resolved and conversely have nowt to report when there is a big big problem somewhere - and I hate the phrase we will bring you news of a problem (somewhere) in 15 Minutes

Apparently further talks are due tomorrow, so I wouldn't put it past the panic buyers coming out again to \"top up\" their tanks.

I'm gonna play safe &  double my usual amount, just in case.
If everyone did that there wouldn't be a problem.

It's been a nightmare, even more so when you live right near a petrol station, been taking 15 minutes to get into my own street with people queuing for petrol.  I could understand it but one woman the other day said she needed it in case it rains so the kids didn't have to walk to school.  Make them f**king walk....
