Advertising Hoardings
« on May 06, 2012, 06:32:45 pm by The Red Baron »
Doncaster Rugby League Club once again has a presence in Bentley. The club has erected two large advertising boards near their old Tattersfield ground on Bentley Road.

The advertisements will catch traffic coming in and out of Bentley and will advertise forthcoming home games as the club look to increase their fan base.

Dons' chief executive Carl Hall said: "The history of the club is strongly linked to Tattersfield and it's great to see the Dons back at their old stomping ground.

"We hope these advertisements raise awareness of our games at the Keepmoat and it would be a big positive to see a few old faces return to see the boys in action.

"We've got an excellent squad this season with a great mix of youth and experience and Tony's (Miller) got them playing some really attractive and attacking rugby league.

"We're an ambitious club and we want to be playing at the highest possible level. I hope the Doncaster people continue to show their great support and encourage their friends and family to come and watch the Dons and see what they've missing."

The club would like to thank our sponsors Centurion Europe Ltd and Murvic Contracts Ltd for the advertising boards. Centurion has kindly supplied the design and signage whilst Murvic completed the installation of the signage as a donation to the club.

The Dons face Rochdale Hornets in a return fixture at the Keepmoat Stadium this Sunday - the game has a 3pm kick-off.

Well done to the Dons for thinking of this. Maybe Rovers could do something similar. Our unlamented CEO used to think it was too difficult and expensive to bother about, but if the Dons can find a way to advertise their games, surely so can we.

Better still, I'd love to see the Dons go back and play on the land at Tattersfield.....
They only need a rope around the pitch to keep the 500 fans back from the players.

at least they are trying to get more people to know about the games coming up and get them down there to the keepmoat

think there was about 570 yesterday and they are still top of the league and doing well

linking this in with the season ticket i.e. rovers season ticket holders get into dons games free could add an extra 100/200 to games

Their were just short of 750 their yesterday which is a decent increase from the game before so the word must be spreading.

Yeah their doing very well at the minute and they have a big game at home this sunday v oldham who usually bring a few fans so think their aiming for around a 1000 which would be the biggest in a few years for the dons at home.

When you drive into Sheffield along Parkway there are electronic signs warning of imminent football matches and possible congestion.

There are similar electronic signs at various points in Doncaster so why not get a message out for Rovers home games? I know it's not advertising as such but it would at least raise awareness that there's a home game coming up.

If cost is the deciding factor I'm pretty sure that would cost nothing more than a phone call.

But they do, normally says 'Football match this Saturday....expect delays' or something like that

I've never seen them in use for the football. And to be fair, they are for traffic alerts, and the congestion at the Keepmoat on match days doesn't have a knock on effect for the rest of the town.

They used to put them on for every match when the signs were first installed now they are never on only to tell of roadworks or parades
