On the Dole
« on June 28, 2012, 09:34:39 pm by eastender »
As of Monday all our released player's will join the dole queue .

So can we expect a few of them to be resigned early next week before they seek a wage else where.

James Baxendale
Rachid Bouhenna
James Chambers
Mustapha Dumbuya
Simon Gillett
Paul Keegan
Adam Lockwood
John Oster

Personally I'd like to see Baxendale , Dumbuya , Gillett and Keegan given contracts.  :)

Unless we are confident of the Stevenage pair I would add Lockwood as well

I'd love to see John Oster go! Keep Dumbuya, Gillett as a reserve and keep Baxendale

I'd keep Gillett and maybe Lockwood and Dumbuya, but after that I'll be happy not to see any of those again in a Rovers shirt.

I thought the little we saw of Baxendale last season was very promising. Definitely worth retaining. Oster if we kept him would be most skilful player in League One. Real baller.

I'd keep Oster, Gillett and Baxendale. I'm a big fan of Dumbuya but I predict he will be playing elsewhere next year.

I'd keep Locky and Oster if their wage demands were reasonable. Dumbuya would be nice but think he'll go to Palace.

Bouhenna signed a longer contract than the other trialists didn't he?

Oster would rip up L1, and doesnt seem to suffer with injuries - a strong consideration if we are to be running a blend of youth and experience this season.

Baxo is a must sign.  At the start of last season I could see him pushing for a first team place (anyone who saw him at Grimsby in the friendly or against Tranmere in the cup will know what I mean).  On those performances he was a whisker behind Ryan Mason, and he was bloody good.

Locky is one of those who probably needs a change of scenery, in my view.  Chambers has been brilliant for us, but will he be the same after his injury nightmares?  Muzzy is a great lad, but I think he may want his chance to play back down south.  Bouhenna looked very good - strong, pacey and composed - in the preseason games last year..... then the aliens abducted him.  Another one who will shine in L1.

Pretty sure his contract is up. 1 year deal as I remember.

"Oster would rip up league 1"

Can't say I agree one bit, in my opinion he's a shocking player.

Bouhenna was definitely released.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gillett hasn't already been given the nod , seeing that he's still living in the Doncaster area.

Oster should be Pirlo of League One - sit at back of diamond in front of back four spraying ball around pitch, not expected to tackle or do much else.

I'd keep Muzzy, Oster and Gilly. Baxendale is also a must, how he never got more of a chance last year is beyond me.

Didn't Gillett commit himself to helping promotion, just before he was released? Would like to see him stay on along with Dumbuya and Lockwood.
I think Lockwood is good enough for this level and I think Dumbuya could cause some mayhem in League One.

I'd keep the majority of them, bearing in mind this is League 1 now, the Championship I'd release most of them.

James Baxendale - Young, will come good.
Rachid Bouhenna - Never seen him play, if he's costing money and not playing he can go.
James Chambers - I'm afraid if the injuries aren't solved he'd have to go, though on his game he'd be one of the best full backs in the division.
Mustapha Dumbuya - Definate keep if we can.
Simon Gillett - Same as above, vastly underrated by some people.
Paul Keegan - Not good enough for Champs but could do a job if Gillett goes.
Adam Lockwood - Honest no fuss CH, L1 is his level I think and would be ok.
John Oster - Has had a poor time, to be honest people thinking he'll be best player in division are half right as he could be, but he will get even less time on the ball and get whacked more often at this lower level. That said if he can be given a free role and shielded by Gillett/Keegan he could shine.

James Chambers - cannot see us offering anything.
Mustapha Dumbuya - would like to keep but will probably go elsewhere
Simon Gillett - wants to stay but reportedly wanted elsewhere, could be an asset in league one.
Paul Keegan - do not rate at all, will probably find his level at league 2.
Adam Lockwood - worth keeping, solid CB especially in this league of hoofers.
John Oster - quality, and doesn't get injured. Could be the difference next year if other midfielders can do the tackling for him.

Haven't seen enough of the others to comment.

I can't see DS keeping any of them. He's made it clear he's wanting new faces, wants to build his team and knows he realistically has this season to prove himself and raise his profile for the future.

So glad most of our first games are against the least favourite teams. Who are Sheff U anyway?

As someone brought up in Rotherham, and a regular visitor to Thrybergh, I couldn't agree more with that sentiment.

The player's i'd like to keep-
DUMBUYA-Could develop into a very good player, just needs a bit of work on the defensive side, brilliant going forward at times

CHAMBERS I'd like to see him given a one year contract,or if he was agree-able a pay as you play deal due to his injuries,if they could be sorted out,i've always rated him as a very good attacking full-back

BAXENDALE I Would keep because he has a bit of potential, though i wouldn't offer massive money because he hasn't proved himself yet

BOUHENNA I Don't know about him having never seen him play

Oster,Gillett,Lockwood and Keegan i would let go!!
