Big day for Saunders tomorrow
« on October 06, 2012, 01:08:04 am by Norfolk N Chance »
Needs to show he has learned from his mistakes.

We NEED to start proactively and go all out for 3 points

We NEED to start with Husband, Harper and Hume

We NEED to get the crowd on side with wholehearted display with tackles flying in and chasing the ball down at every opportunity

We NEED to take the lead and not sit back but push on and have it wrapped up as soon as possible

COME ON YOU REDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid:        :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We've looked better playing 4-5-1,4-3-3.

I'm not bothered what formation we play as long as the players show desire and commitment to win the game by putting in 100% effort.

Closing people down, getting a tackle in and chasing any seemingly lost passes.

Winnable game today if approached in the right way. Looking forward to coming away with 3pts. Lets hope the players are to!

The only thing we MUST do today is take 3 points to make that game in hand meaningfull. Don't care how we do it but a win is vital.

Rovers will walk it today. Shrewsbury arent up to much. We'll be mid table this season. Saunders is a half decent motivator but he's not a coach. Defensively, we're OK. Jones, for me is a revelation, a true general. The Woods boys are, sadly, liabilities we can do without. Gary aint tall enough and Martin has just never lived up to his potential. Bennett was bought by SOD as an impact player with a view to later development. He's not been developed cos Saunders can't coach and the opposition has sussed his one-trick-edness out, cutting in from the left and shooting. His work rate is poor too. As crazy as this may sound, I'd like to see Blake partner Syers in the middle. Blake's got a brain, can hold the ball and can pick out a pass. If he's supported by Syers, winning and fetching the ball for him it would add some substance to the midfield in my view. Up the Rovers!!!

Seeing as though he has all his uefa badges I would say he is definitely a coach, regards to Blake he can pick a pass but you need to have some legs to play centre mid, and he's lost them.

A friend of mine works inside the game as a coach.
He's often said that Saunders is viewed by his peers as a very decent coach. Souness, for example, is a particularly big fan.
However, the view of him as a manager is less flattering. It's felt he'd have been better off staying at Wrexham, and learning his trade further, before chancing his arm in the higher echelons of the game.

Saunders is improving IMO though and for all those who compare him with O'Driscoll you could easily draw comparisons between our promotion season and the start of this one, some good, competent performances and some shockers (mainly at home).  O'Driscoll found a formula after a few months, now we need Saunders to find that formula.

Agreed, he's proved his transfer nous already - I wouldn't pick faults with any of his signings and he's got us further up the table than I feared we would be in July. Now the focus moves from his excellent wheeling-and-dealing to his coaching ability, he needs to unify what he's brought in to make us even stronger.

Big game! I always say after 10 games we need 15pts (minimum) any less and it's a poor start imo. Team line-up is vital today aswell! I don't like 442 and from what i can gather, it's not worked the best for us so far. Harper for Woods, Hume for Bennett and Keegan (don't like him but still) for Paynter today i reckon.

I don`t know how you come to those conclusions when you don`t go to games

As of November 2010 there were only 125 people on the planet who had the uefa pro licence. Saunders being one of them.

I'd say there are less these days with a cycling proficiency test, though. ;)

Saunders is doing very well, in my book.  He clearly is developing in aspects and you might even say "overachieving" at the moment.  I've no complaints so far.

Agree with that, especially considering if we win our game in hand we are in the play-off spots.

I know it's too early, and my opinion on this season was pure consolidation and re-building. But it is nice to be up there thinking about 'what if' as opposed to worrying about whether we are going to be involved in a scrap for survival.

We're in League 1 at the end of the day, some people need to realise this is our level.

I have got to say though, I am looking forward to when we are eventually rid of ALL the high earners, and DS has a full budget to work with. Looking at the team/players he's brought in this season with the restrictions he has done a bloody good job and clearly has a good eye for players and the type of player he wants. I for one am happy to now be looking forward to matches, and with our club, our ground, our backroom staff and with DS, IMO our future is brighter than it has been for a few years.
