Fat People can't fly
« on March 28, 2013, 07:07:53 pm by CusworthRovers »
I say a clamour has started to charge fat people more for flying.

In the Aviation Industry space and weight is ultra important. Every extra kilogram burns more fuel and more CO2 emissions. The Airlines are looking at cost cutting and efficiency savings.

There is an argument that everybody else are paying for fat people to fly, and flights would be cheaper for the lighter person if the heavier person was made to pay extra.

Is this a fair system or extremely t**ttish?

As a fatty and regular flyer I'm in good position to answer this. At the moment there's no discrimination against fatty's, we all pay the same, us fatty's have to squeeze into seats designed for thin people, ask for an extension for our seatbelts and can't get the little table down over our fat belly's, generally we have a very uncomfortable journey, I'm not complaining it's a small price to pay for 2 weeks in the sun. But if you're going to charge me more to travel the very least I expect is to travel in the same comfort as the thin guy thats paying less for his journey.

And that is a very good point,
I can't see the airlines  coming up with different size seats though so the happy medium is we all pay the same, just don't sit next to me  :s

Everybody is trying to come up with different ways to make us part with money

I'm skinny. Skin and bone in fact. I demand cheaper seats for all skin and bone men.

Cheers

I think you fatties should get off the Slim Slow Plan. Over active thyroid my arse, it's your over active knife and fork that's the problem.  :woohoo:

You might be onto something there Nudga, I`ve never blamed the Knife and Fork before, I always pinned it down to the over active deep fat fryer :)

It's a medical condition to do with the feet... Can't keep em out the Fkin pantry ;)

Joking aside, if they even attempt to do this surely there's got to be a clear definition of what constitutes 'fat' and what additional charges are costed at. Is it going to be based on BMI, and will it be a set fee for any individual in the 'overweight' or 'obese' categories, as this isn't fair as their could be two people in the overweight category where one weighs substantially more than the other... So the argument there is it that individuals should pay on what they weigh.

SO... That should mean everyone (even skinny people) should pay on what they weigh!

Too complex and will never come into force IMO

It's a problem that has been highlighted recently in Aberdeen and the helicopter flights to and from the North Sea oil rigs , it has become a major safety issue

Like i said in my earlier post, at the moment fatties flying are subject to an uncomfortable journey, make us pay more and surely we are entitled to the same level of comfort as the rest of the plane, that means taking some seats out and less people on the plane, it`s not going to happen is it, it`s discrimination of the highest order!

My problem is that the bottom hole is smaller than the top hole hence weight gain!

My wife has a problem with her bottom hole being bigger than the U bend hole in toilet, she keeps blocking it every time she does a thumper dumper.

surely fat people will buy more in flight snacks and with the cost of them the airlines must be raking it in already at those prices

They also argued about the cost on the NHS to look after obese people. It costs 10's of thousands of pounds to have a gastric band fitted. It's costing millions to treat diabetes, high blood pressure etc etc.

Then again, it's costing billions to treat alcoholics, druggies for them to slip straight back into that lifestyle.

Then again, it's costing billions to treat people for depression, bi-polar, adhd and ailments that were never hugely apparent only a decade or so ago.

It's all a social thing. People cannot cope with everyday life these days and so turn to food, drink, drugs, benefits and pronounce themselves depressed. Everyone else must pay for this ever-growing group.
