I've heard 17.8, 17.9, 18 and 20 seconds quoted. Can someone tell me the definitive answer, this is important.

Just shown on Calendar and Look Leeds both had clock on it both said 18 seconds

as accurate as i can be - 17.704 seconds from the ball hitting the bar to crossing the line - that's doing a frame by frame check...
