Thought both played well tonight and thought Yeovil played far better football.

Agreed.  Those 2 in particular were excellent, and United were incredibly lucky with the deflected goal.

Webster looks like a great player at Yeovil. Never looked any good with us

Think I saw him once and he didn't look like he knew where he was for all the match

He was indeed Rob. Generally Yeovil look a far better outfit on the ball tonight. I can see them overturning this 1-0 lead in the 2nd leg despite the way the Blunts play away from home.
Imo the Blunts needed a 2-0 victory at least tonight not just 1 deflected goal.

I remember when he played against Notts county in the cup and did quite well.

He always looked like a human version of Sesame Street's "Big Bird" to me...

He was playing well and finding himself in the team untill he broke his arm at Sheff U as Rob points out...

Rob

Leave it out cocker. I still feel queasy when I recall the way that Henderson introduced Webster to the nasty Mesters' world. It was like seeing an innocent bairn being violated by a pantomime baddy.

I'm off for a bath in carbolic to try to scrub the memory out mi system.

Indeed he did, looked very assured in that game, league cup 1st round, away.

I notice Webster has beefed up a bit, good to see he's made it in the English game even if it wasn't with us.

If we needed a right back I'd say let's sign Ayling but we don't, really.

Webster was unlucky with us. He started to look the part and was one of the back 3 when we won at Bramhall Lane when we were subject to mortar fire coming in from all angles.

He got injured there the following season with a bizare injury and when he came back, he had to settle for cameo roles as one of SOD's late subs, most notably at Cardiff when SOD put him on as full back late on and he conceded a corner from which they scored to win the game.

Once he went off to Hereford we thought we'd seen the last of him but fair play he's come back and done well.

Of course another centre half that acquired a bizare injury when with us and has gone on to do really well is Brighton's captain Gordon Greer.

DonnyBaz.

It wasn't a bizarre injury. It was a disgusting and deliberate assault. If that had been seen on TV cameras in the Prem, Henderson would have been banned for half a season. Totally unacceptable thuggery.

I think the injury Baz refers to was the fractured metatarsal, which is more of an occupational hazard for footballers than a bizarre injury. I agree the Henderson incident was an assault, but given the FA's track record of dealing with violent conduct I'd be surprised if he'd have been given a ban of any sort, never mind a lengthy one.

Where I sat at Bramhall Lane that day, was almost immediately behind where Henderson assaulted Webster that day.  How both the ref and the linesman (on the same side as the incident) failed to see this was shocking.

I'd recommend a few folk on here pop down their GP and get their Hippocampus looked at.

Webster signed for the 2009/10 season. How he managed to play in the back three at Bramall Lane the previous season remains a bit of a mystery.

Before Doncaster's own Darius Henderson caused him a mischief, Webster played 90 minutes in the League Cup against Notts County. 45 minutes against Spurs, both in August, and 14 minutes against Scunthorpe, In September. After almost three months of the season, he'd played just over two hours of first team football. By the time of the Sheff Utd match (October) it's a bit of a stretch to say he was playing well and finding himself in the team.

Cheers LJ. That was my vague memory as well, but the couple of weeks I've had at work, I'm struggling to remember what the result was last Saturday.

The Webster game that stands out most for me is when he came in and we lost 3-2 at home to Derby, an embarrassing performance of awful proportions saved slightly by Dean Shiels' scoring two top class goals.

I liked Webster, for me it was SOD who,if we was drawing or winning, would persitantly insisted on fetching extra defenders on for the last 5 mins(SOD rarely used subs earlier, like 15 or 20 mins to go when it had more chance of an positive impact for us) and being on the fringe of the team,It was usually webster fetched on and thrown into the hotpot of back to the wall football with us allowing the opposition to attack us relentlessly in the last minutes. Our football may not be pretty flowing stuff now,but it's so nice to watch Spot on substitions being made and having Positive results for us so many times.
