Watford look really good. Then again, so do Palace to be fair, although whether they keep hold of all their better players is another matter. We know Zaha won't be there next season, at least.

Ha Ha. Glad you're happy.

Shame really but on the other hand, I've got Wigan at home for one of my preferred opening day fixtures.

We're going to get confused with all these teams beginning with the letter 'B'.

Bugger. Beginning with D we're only gonna B mid table.

Barnsley, Birmingham, Blackburn, Blackpool, Blackburn, Bolton, Brighton, Burnley and maybe Brentford.

Oops I forgot Boro!

I Was really chuffed when they won the FA Cup,but the relegation was probably inevitable, they've had a good innings, eight years in the top league, that's some achievement,it just shows even a club like ours get the right manager and.....i'm starting to dream it now :scarf:

SCwK, Wigan were bankrolled massively overs the years. I don't think even JR could match the funds Wigan had.

You forgot Bournemouth too!

Me and my old man worked it out today, if Watford and Brentford go up we could be 12th/13th on the initial alphabetised table which is quite strange. Only QPR, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan would be after the letter 'N'!

I Know Les,Dave Whelan is a very rich man,but compared to most in that league still a great achievement, couldn't believe one of their fans earlier,he phoned five live and said,he didn't deserve to have to watch them against the likes of Notts Forest!!,it just shows every club has got them haven't they?,if i was a Wigan fan i would be proud of what we had achieved, and like what we did took our medicine and got on and got promoted.

SCwK, That fan needs a reminder from where Wigan started, the Northern League. Got into the FL in the pre promotion days. The had to be elected. As you said this will be a reality check for their fans, comes to all clubs (including Man U) in their history.

Wigan only finished 2nd in the Northern Premier league that year, behind Boston, they were only put forward for election into the Football League because Boston`s  ground was n`t up to the required Football League standard

I wonder when York Street got renovated, as its currently a better ground now than the old Springfield Park ever was.

Impossible to go sliding down any mud banks at York Street!

You've got to assume the Wigan fan is only about 20 yrs old and has only known Premier league football.
We'll have young fans who including next season will have known 5 of 6 seasons of 2nd tier football and think we have a divine right to be there.

Listening to the radio on the way home, apparently it's till possible for them to stay up if results and scorelines fall for them on Sunday (in the same alignment as the planets every 10,000 years) and a 'tie' ensues.

A play off game on a neutral ground would then take place.....

They're four points adrift?..

You might have heard of a third place playoff between Arsenal and Chelsea if Chelsea draw but Arsenal score two more than them and only win by one.

They would need to beat Villa and, in the process, overturn a goal difference of 14 on Sunderland. If, somehow, they managed to do that, the next obstacle would be convincing the Premier League to award them 4 points for doing so. It would certainly be unexpected.

the fact of the matter is that the club secretary who is still in post, John Blackwell made a huge administrative error involving the suitability of the ground resulting in Boston not being allowed into the league. Had his admin been in order it would have been a different story. The belief in the Town then and now is that the owners of the club, the Malkinson Family, simply did not want BUFC in the League at that time
