Agree, makes no sense and I explained it badly.  The standard rule is to keep right and pass on the left.  However it seems that due to bad driving practices, it has become more common to just pass on the right if you have to.  In turn this has now become more of the norm on major highways sadly.

I will check to see if these rules vary by state, though I wouldn't have thought so.

You've all misseed out the worst middle lane B*****ds of all. It's 9 in the evening and there's not a soul in sight. You're crusing at 80mph in lane 1 and spot a car in the distance in lane 2 doing 50 so you have to pull right over to lane 3 to overtake before going back to lane 1.  Often with a blast of the horn as you go by. Glance in the mirror a minute later and they're disappearing over the horizon behind you. In the middle F***ing lane.

...Then there are those complete bell ends on country roads who insist on doing 45mph. It's their speed. They like it. It  keeps their engine ticking over nicely in 5th.

I get stuck behind these total nobbers all the time between Balby and Wadworth. The thing is, when they get to the village with a speed limit of 30, the absolute toss pots continue cruising along at 45. It's their speed. They like it...

I'm just thankful none of you lot have started on us "outside lane hoggers"

;)

Wheatley Hall Road is a nightmare for outside lane hoggers, outside lane at St George`s Roundabout all the way down to Sandall Park roundabout, too lazy to pull in because they`re turning right 3 miles down the road! usually a woman or a pensioner!

THAT annoys me so much.

As you say 45 down the main road, 45 through the village, 45 all the way to Tickhill. There was a young lad, a Rovers fan as it happens who was run down and killed at that spot just as the main road enters Wadworth. There are always flowers by the roadside just there.

Yep, I get in the outside lane as I come off St George's Roundabout and stay there until I get to the Argos.
