After a shocking first half I expected a reaction in the second half, where was it?

second to every ball and no where near good enough!

Messers Ryan, Bramall and Watson MUST find some new investment or dig into their pockets bec ause as Wellens says we need four or five more players. Listening today it just was not good enough.

Boremuff gave us a footballing lesson I'm afraid. Hoofing long balls up to Browny and Robbo wasn't working so we brought on Billy for more of the same?

What happened to the football PD says he wants us to play?

To be fair we did play a bit in the second half - granted, not much - and apart from Tuesday it's the first time so far this season we've properly gone hoofball.

Got into some decent positions in the last third only for everything to break down. Its not good enough to just help it into the box time and time again. We need some ideas and craft round the box, im hoping Forrester is that man.

Id try and get him into the side ASAP at the expense of Cotterill who has started this season as he ended the last, awful.

The players need to perform. That's the only difference. We know they can play much better collectively.

That sort of performance can knock a few hundred of the gate instantly and is not acceptable and the players know it.

I don't often agree with you Filo, but the thread thread title sums it up

We were poor today, but remember this was the same 11 that started vs Blackburn and Charlton and performed outstandingly in those games.

The worry would be if today's performance was the best we could do, whereas we know we can do much better.

We didn't look up for it at all today, and I can't understand why, and I agree I expected a better 2nd half.

Never mind, it's one bad day, not the end of the world...

I agree IDM about it being a one off, however, with there being a two week International break you would have thought the players would have put in far more effort , knowing they would have two weeks to recover.

Similarly, I was surprised to see Coppinger play when he could have had the two weeks to get extra fitness after that atrocious tackle on Tuesday night. Yes it was the same eleven players, but it was not the same team.

Coppinger was actually one of the more effective players behind Husband and Khumalo, who ended up playing right back and centre half as Wabara was so poor.

Yes I know, but with the two week break, he could have made himself a lot worse.  As it is the performance wasn't better or worse for Copps being in the team. The whole performance from the rest was poor.

I think fans are going to be nervous until we've hit Dave Penney's 10 game barrier and we better judge our performances as well as the league table starting to take shape. As with every season there's some real surprise results every week so even looking at the table now isn't a great indicator. I thought after the first game that Blackpool would do poor this season yet they're still churning the results out!

As others have correctly pointed out - the players who have played the majority of games for us have on the whole more than coped with this level and put in some great displays too. Yesterday was certainly poor and will cause nerves purely because we don't know if yesterday will turn out to be the norm or the Blackburn/Wigan/Charlton games will be, in which case we'll be at 50pts by some point in February!

The only point I'd add specific to yesterday is that there's going to be some tight calls for PD this season in terms of when to go with one up front and when to use two. Wellens had a real purple patch pushing on in the second half but could barely get past the half way line in the first as we were losing the midfield battle.
