Get it all out
« on November 26, 2013, 11:11:39 pm by BillyStubbsTears »
Come on lads.

There's clearly a need for some folk on here to get their worries out in the open.

Me, I blame Jonathan f**king Trott, the gret Jessie.

But I'm enough of a new man to understand that even grown men need to cry sometimes.

So, come on. We lost tonight. Come on for a big group hug. Get your tears and your rage out. Pour it all out. Punch a cushion. Rip a tissue. Say "bugger" REALLY loud.

And then f**k off and shut the f**k up for the rest of the season while we get on with the job of staying up.

I listened to Football Heaven tonight and it was a close match between Sheff Wednesday fans and Barnsley fans for the "moaner of the week" title.

I expect us to run them close tomorrow.

;)

I can't remember when we last played as bad as that. That was worse than any performance we put in the last time we went down. Bring in Habib Beye I say 😀

Can't have been worse than derby away, year we went down, we never crossed the halfway line.
Reece brown made his debut.
We were shocking at mk dons last season too, we're bound to get a few dire performances but hopefully we will get some good ones as well similar to Wigan, Watford, etc

Clearly you weren't there tonight. I've no issues with the result in fact I would have applauded each and every player off the field if we'd lost 10-0 as long they'd put an honest shift in and looked like they wanted to make something happen. Unfortunately for those that were there to witness that debacle very few came anywhere near showing the passion and effort that goes with the shirt. I'm used to watching Rovers lose BST I've been at it since 1975 and from 1978 to 1985 we had a manager for whom the players would not have dared perform like they did tonight in terms of application. The little Scotsman would have turned in his grave should he have been looking down on the Valley this evening.

Gaz.

I wasn't there tonight but I've got a long memory. I'll bet I can think of 50 games off the too of my head when we were worse than tonight(1).

But you saw it and I didn't. So you're hurting and I'm slightly anaesthetised. Still, the big issue is whether we can pox enough points to just stay up. And in the way, we have to expect some shite like tonight. Be big and grown up, put it to one side and move on.

(1) I will f**king well guarantee you for a start that It wasn't worse than our 0-1 defeat at Cambridge in Oct 89.

Charlton play a moderate Ipswich side on Saturday. Let's keep an eye out for the result to put ours into perspective, collateral  form and all that. I think we lost to a poor side which makes it all worse.

I'm with Billy on this one ( btw didn't go either) but listened to the parts of the game that Charlton allowed me to and can tell you we have played 10X worse than that and stolen the points in the past.
Now then I know we've got problems in midfield , defense and attack but once Paul Dickov sorts one of those areas out the rest will slot into place.
In the meantime we as supporters have got to give him time to press his message home to both the players and the owners before we get on his back too. A lot has happened recently and I have a sneaky feeling that summat from outside has crept into the changing room.
PD needs to get those lads well away from it and tell those lads exactly what is expected of them on a one to one basis. If they don't like it then piss them off irrespective of how long they have been with the club!

Before opening this thread all I knew about last night was the result, which was bad enough, but Surrey Rover's account makes for depressing reading.

A defeat to a team in and around us at the lower end of the table is one thing; an abject performance is another thing entirely.

Still, at least Hoola cheered me up with his assessment :

"Now then I know we've got problems in midfield , defense and attack but......"

 ;)

We WILL NOT stay up under TB UNLESS he spends some of his vast wealth on the team.

Boomstick.

I suggest you toddle off and tell him what to spend his money on then.

Let us know what he says.

Why should he?

We need him more than he needs us. Same with all Directors and ex Directors who we owe money.

Folk need to understand we owe getting on eight million quid to people who could demand it back as and when they want it. We are only alive due to their goodwill.

Chris,
We are alive due to John Ryan and John Ryan only.
I'm well aware that TB and DW have put money in the last few years, but there wouldn't have been a club to put money in to had it not been for JR.

Not sure you can call it goodwill. A loan is a loan. What is the interest on the loan?

And if it was still just him and he threw the teddy out the pram again then we'd be right up the swanny.

With you on this one Billy - we have a fight on our hands - but unlike two seasons ago we are in a fight.

To those of you who want to give up after 16 games and 16 points of a 46 match season - well apart from the obvious 90 points still to play for, look at how we were doing after 16 games in our 4 previous seasons in the Championship:

2008-9: W2 D3 L11 9 points finished 14th
2009-10: W2 D9 L5 15 points finished 12th
2010-11: W6 D5 L5 23 points finished 21st
2011-12: W3 D3 L10 12 points finished 24th

So apart from the consistently awful 2011-12 season  there is a more negative than positive correlation between the 16 games point and the end of season position. We have survived comfortably twice from worse positions after16 games.

Also this 3 point a win system means a short run of say 3 victories at any stage can totally change things very quickly

The January window will be very interesting, and no predictions make sense until after then

If it was still just JR he wouldn't have needed to throw his teddy out of the cot!

And we'd never have got into the Champ at all.

There's a lot of positive with our club though I do feel there's a kickass quality that's been allowed to slip. No coincidence in my mind that this has come at the same time as the SC/director debacle.

We've done well for a club of our size at this level, it's just unfortunate we have so many injuries (and that red card Dean you dick!) at the moment. The lack of available players means the competition for places is nonexistent, and the comings and goings on the pitch results in an unsettled side - especially important with the defence.

Whatever cover we bring in is not going to deal with the issue of an unsettled team. In some ways it can strengthen the squad by having the fringe players contribute. Yes, there is a potential problem of a losing mentality but regain that kickass quality and there is enough in our squad to overcome that.

More than anything, I want us to become a sustainable club not spending more than we earn. For me, SC and any massive investment (ie pay a couple of people stupid wages) is not far from the experiment in how it effects us.
