Joe lolley

This is a player we should have took a gamble on, he's just signed for Huddersfield. Only 21 not bags of goals but apparently a real quality player. Haven't seen a fee mentioned anywhere for how much Huddersfield plaid for him but it can't of been too much

They already have Vaughan, Paterson and Stead. They added Wells and Lolley, two young strikers to their front line options.

Are posters going to criticise DRFC every time another club signs a player?

Not a criticism do DRFC, but just shows what is required to maintain or improve your status in the championship.

Well if you're  talking about mine it was not meant as a criticism at all, just an observation. I know behind the scenes PD is working hard to get in a striker I was just saying if we were to take a chance on someone it would be someone like this guy.

Are you going in criticise every poster's opinion?

No DtoD, it just seems to me that there is so much frustration that we haven't signed this or that player yet, that whenever a player goes to another club it seems to be one we could have missed.

Nothing personal, I just find this frustrating to read.

Maybe these other players are not those on PD's list?  Aren't we all hoping for someone with championship experience if we can afford it?  A non-league player now may or may not cut it at this level, too much of a risk?

To be fair none of us expected Khumalo to sign (or be as good as he's been) when we found out we missed out on (if you can call it that) M'Voto.

Nothing to say he won't pull another rabbit out of the hat like that with a striker.

If we do sign a non league player people will say it shows a lack of ambition.

It's been proven time and again, our club doesn't scout for ''Up and Coming players'',teams like Peterborough ''cherry pick'' the best non league talent, and sell at a profit, until our club starts scouting these type of players, and risking a few quid here and there, our run in the Championship won't sustain in the long run,the club react to situations, instead of any ''forward thinking'' being used.

I'd never, ever heard of him before, then on FA Cup highlights show on ITV, the commentator said something about him being a future star or having a bright future or something! Next thing I know - last night Huddersfield announce the signing on SSN. They're doing some quality business in this market by the way, but I suppose that's what happens when you get £8million for a striker!

In the summer it was said by Flynn and PD we would bring in young players for our development squad, that did not happen. We signed players from our youth team which was good but that was it. We had other players on trial before and at the start of the season yet none signed. Maybe this plan like other plans in the summer relied on extra investment, which did not happen.

Signing a non league player to go along with four other strikers shows that Huddersfield want progression through the team. Signing a non league striker to go straight into our first team at the moment would not be a priority or sensible in our position. We are having difficulties getting the targets we have identified finances appear to be playing apart so bringing someone in for the future or addition would be good but may distract money from our main targets.

I agree that we could employ this strategy generally, but not for the current situation right now.
