Do we think he can sustain these performances next season? Richie is 34 today and this season must have taken a lot out of him after playing probably more games than he has in the last two years.
Maybe Dickov has De Val in mind as a rotation player for Wellens, play De val against the big teams away and save Richie for the games against poorer opposition?

He doesn't exactly need pace for the way he plays, all depends on how well he looks after himself at this stage.
Besides, if he wants to earn a new contract then he's going to have to be playing regularly because we can't justify paying what he wants if he's not going to be able to keep fit enough to be regularly playing this amount of games.

Wellens will be ok for next season. Don't forget he gets his yellows in to guarantee a regular rest.
