CARERS
« on April 24, 2014, 04:28:49 pm by ravenrover »
Has anyone had any dealings with any of the Care Companies in Doncaster recently?
My Mum has Dementia and as usual there is no help from Social Services so I have to find Carers for her myself. I've been in touch with Age Concern and they are getting back to me but wondered if anybody had any recommendations. It's not nursing care that she needs just a 1/2 hour visit to make sure she's OK and taking her pills and feeding herself bit of cleaning etc Thanks

My daughter works for Mid Yorkshire Care, they're based in Wakefield but are on the Doncaster Council approved carers list, they are sticklers for making sure the carers arrive at the agreed time. Your best bet is ask around for recommendations on care companies, some of them are dodgy, make sure you are there when they assess her and work out a care plan

No she doesn't meet "the criteria"!
84 years old widow, lives on her own, virtually an invalid and doesn't know what day it is but because she can dress herself and make a sandwich she's outside of the system, oh and I am her only child and live in Nottingham! Amazing
Hence why I'm trying to sort something

I was the same with my Mother, terminally ill with Non Hodkin's Lymphoma, Doncaster Council came out assessed her and said they could do nothing for her and left me a list of care providers and some phone numbers for people that do a meal delivery service, the care provisions for the elderly is truly shocking!
