Lucas Neill player coach

Experienced and obviously a mate of PD
He could come in as coach allowing Jones to concentrate on solidifying the defence
Jones Neill and McCombe as 3 centre bcks allowing Husband to push forward I say this believing Quinn will move on after a season like he's had

While this might or might not be a good idea, what really does need some serious thinking about is how come for 3 of the last 4 seasons we've been really crippled by injuries under 2 of the 3 managers we've had in that time? And what did the other manager do different in that one season we weren't all knackered?

I know a lot of the injuries are of the 'running into a lamp post' variety so can't be put down to lack of conditioning and so on. But the statistics of this are getting silly. Silly and downright bloody odd. It's not the obvious candidate - the pitch - 'cos Dean Saunders' lot didn't all break down on it. So what is it?

I like the idea of trying to keep Neill, but would that be the slowest back 3 on the planet?

I've said this before - but the season we were not struck by injuries we were a better team in a weaker league so our players maybe didn't have to perform at the same intensity as they did as a weaker team in a stronger league! Purchase did a fab job and it'd be great to have him back but also the sheer better quality of oppos in the championshp as opposed to league 1 means our players wereplayers had to perform at a much higher intensity which undoubtedly increases their vulneralability to tears, strains and impact injuries!

Mal Purchase was in the right place at the right time. Were were lucky with injuries when he was here, I wouldn't put it all down to him. Injuries are a part of the game, even the likes of Milan who have the best physio facilities in the world have injury crisis'.

I think the injuries are purely due to the combination of bad luck and possibly because players have probably had to play when not 100% fit, due to our squad size/depth. I mean how many weeks has brown played with a knackered foot? Attempting to play wellens when he was clearly not fit? It's not rocket science that playing tired/unfit players increases their chance of further injury
