Police after game today
« on September 20, 2014, 05:49:56 pm by Albert Trousers »
absolute shambles, barely 100 yards from the turnstyles & Chesterfield fans (maybe 60+ in number) trying to pick fights with anyone, banging on cars trying to entice people to get out & not a copper in sight, go up the alleys in Hyde Park & there's some there even though no away fans could ever find the place & at the top of the alley near Chequer Road (another place you don't see away fans) you can't move for riot vans. Say what you like about the older DDR lads but that car park incident would have happened 10 years ago!

Think it was an air ambulance for an injury to the American football lot.

It was the air ambulance. Someone was being attended to at the grid iron game on pitch 2.

Heard they've caused a lot of trouble in town as well. One of the Wetherspoons pubs has been smashed up apparently.

Witherspoons as never been a pub in my book ,the most un pub Place where
you purchase a pint and its far from been a pub.

its an outlet for cheap beer .

i be more than happy if Chesterfield fans went round the uk on a tour smashing
up every Witherspoons outlet

I can remember when Wetherspoons had a strict "no colours" policy which was supposed to deter football fans. I think they've relaxed that now, although it's likely the Chesterfield lot weren't wearing colours. They'd have probably stuck out like a sore thumb, though.

Chesterfield always had a bit of a firm back in the day. I remember one lunchtime in the mid-80s having a pint in the Rockingham and a load of them went past. A couple stuck their heads in the door and a dozen or so Donny lads (possibly DDR) raced out after them. One had been playing pool and went out still holding the cue!

There were loads on the train back to Sheffield (I had to keep my head down) and at one point the train stopped while the police dealt with some incident. A couple of lads were frogmarched off when we stopped at Rotherham.

Not wanting to glamourise things, but that is how it was back in the 70s and 80s. The sort of incidents that happened yesterday happened every week.

Don't know about the spoons getting done over I was in both yday afternoon and didn't see a thing wrong, there was a commotion outside walkabout where a good 40 'Donny' youth chased some chesterfield and there was a few punches thrown but it's all handbags
